Hey neobrain, I actually did test it two days ago, sorry for the wait. I tested SMG2 and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle (not a wide variety, but I didn't have too much time). They both rendered fine on 4.0-1234. I took screenshots of SMG2; look for the edited version of this post later after I eat some breakfast.
And now for the EDIT:

Fwiw, an Intel HD 3000 plays everything just as well on 4.0- 1234 (i.e. no graphical glitches). Used OpenGL on both my laptop and the family desktop (Intel HD4400 and HD 3000 respectively). So unless Mesa doesn't have good Haswell support, I don't think you have much to worry about with this new laptop.
