As of version 5.0-5763, I started getting the following error when loading WiiWare WAD files:
“This WAD has not been signed by Nintendo. Continue to import?”

My dolphin NAND is from my hacked Wii, if that helps.  I had never had this error before.  I would prefer to launch my WW WAD files without installing them to the emulated NAND if that is an option.

Is it possible to somehow launch WADs directly as before?

Does it work if you press Yes when that shows up?

It's not possible to launch a WAD directly without installing it to the emulated NAND, but Dolphin is able to install it to the emulated NAND temporarily and automatically, so it'll act roughly as if you're just launching the WAD without installing it. (This is exactly how the Wii Menu's option to launch channels from an SD card works.)

It does work but the installation is not temporary. The files stay in the emulated NAND after the first installation. I then tried deleting the .app files from the content folder and only leaving the .tmd but that produces the same error when attempting to launch the game and forces another reinstallation to launch the game.

If that is the expected behavior then I'll just move the NAND out of my SSD and install all the WW games there. I just want to be sure first that this is the expected behavior before I do that.

How was Dolphin able to launch games without installing them to the NAND before?

Thanks.

Just like the official SD menu feature, the temporarily installed title will stay on the NAND until you launch something else, or manually delete it from the NAND.

By having a ugly hack in the content handling functions, which generally "worked" but complicated handling a lot, in addition to making Dolphin return wrong and inconsistent information.

I noticed that the game gets copied to its proper sub-folder within the "title" folder in the NAND.  If you launch a different game, this new game would be copied to its own folder so the previous games' files would not be deleted.

What do you mean when you say that the game will stay on the NAND  until something else is launched?

The title directory of the previous title does not get deleted; you would always lose your save data if Dolphin did that. However, its title contents do get deleted when you launch another NAND title that needs to be installed temporarily. (Just to be clear, by title contents I don't mean the contents of the directory, but the .app files you see in the content/ directory.)

Yep.  I get what you're saying.  I was looking at the "contents" folder which contains the tmd and the app files, but all of these files stayed after exiting the game and closing dolphin.  It looks like what I did not do is to launch a different title and then look back at the contents folder of the previous game to see if the files got deleted.  I'm assuming then that Dolphin keeps track of what was the last game to be temporarily installed to the NAND so that it can go back and delete the app files.  I'll verify when I get home.

One more question for you then, will Dolphin still show that pop-up window every time for each game, even if they have been previously temporarily installed?
One thing I tried was to copy the .tmd file for a game from my real extracted nand and inserting it in the contents folder of the emulated NAND but this did prevent getting the error / pop-up.

The popup is shown if a WAD you try to import is not properly signed. It's not really an error, but it warns you that something may be wrong with the WAD. Usually, this is because it was dumped using a bad tool (which messes up the ticket and can even make the install fail completely) or because the file is corrupted. If you don't want Dolphin to bug you about it, you can set [Core] EnableSignatureChecks to False in Dolphin.ini.

Ooh, Thanks!  I'll try that.  I think all my WAD's were dumped with bad tools :-)

By the way, what would be a good tool to do this? I used ShowMiiWADs in the past.
