So I might be getting a new rig. My current rig is a AMD Athlon II x2 250 @ 3 Ghz with integrated graphics. I can run SSBB at 50-60 fps at 1x IR. I might be considering a i3 2100 build. Or a AMD A8 3850. The i3 will have either GTX 560 ti or Radeon HD 6870 for the graphics card and the AMD build will run on Llano's integrated graphics. Will the i3 be enough for 1080p?
Oh, and can anyone reccomend a good $500-$750 build for dolphin and gaming in general? I want to be able to play at 1080p. Smile
i5 2400@3.1 GHz
4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 RAM
AMD Radeon HD 6870 1 GB

I'd definitely recommend a setup like this:

CPU: i5 2500K
GPU: 6870HD or 560ti if you can afford it
MOBO: a P67/Z68 chipset
RAM: Atleast 4GB
PSU: Atleast 600 Watts
Harddrive: Pick your size, but it should have 7200RPM atleast

What store are you going to use- NewEgg?

Also, would a i3 2100 be enough for 1080p? i5 and the i3 are the same arch. and i3 is slower in terms of clockspeed by only a little bit(with the i5's turbo boost taken into account)

The i3 2100 is -just- a dual core though. Not future-proof imo.
Are you sure you want that?

Hmm... I can always upgrade after a year or two, but I'm asking if it is enough for dolphin@1080p.

The cpu doesn't effect resolution scaling. An i3 is enough for MOST games but not all of them. Garteals builds will dip below $800 if you wait for HDD prices to come back down and make a few minor cuts.
