Hoy people,

I've got a new Dolphin CPU Benchmark for everyone to try out so we can create a nice list of which OS/CPU is the fastest. It's a very synthetic benchmark and might not be completely representative of in-game performance (which involves other things like your GPU/drivers/...) but should still be a good indication of what CPUs are good/bad with Dolphin.

Steps to run the benchmark
  • Download and extract http://delroth.net/Dolphin-Benchmark.7z
  • Start Dolphin.exe from that directory and open "povray.elf" that is in the same directory
  • Do. Not. Change. Any. Settings.
  • Wait for about 10-20 minutes for the benchmark to finish (avoid using your computer too intensively during the benchmark to improve accuracy of the results)
  • Take a screenshot of the Dolphin output window.
  • Post results here!

For people on Linux, OS X, Android, etc.

Do not expect me to include your test results: since there is no premade package, the chance of a human error screwing up results is higher and increases the risk to the validity of this benchmark.

If you want to run the benchmark anyway (if you do, please report your results anyway):
  • Get Dolphin 4.0-652 (reference version for this test)
  • Download the .7z from above
  • Replace your Dolphin configuration .ini files with the ones contained in the .7z
  • Replace your Dolphin Wii/sd.raw with the one contained in the .7z
  • Run povray.elf

Results format

Will only be considered results in the following format:

Code:
[b]CPU[/b]: Complete description of your CPU, including clock speed (put "OC" in there if it's overclocked) + turboboost speed
[b]OS[/b]: Your operating system version ("Windows XP", "Windows 7", "Windows 8", "Linux", "Mac OS X", ...)
[b]Time[/b]: Time displayed as "Total time" at the end of the benchmark.
[b]Screenshot[/b]: Link to the screenshot (uploaded to imgur)

Example:

CPU: i7-4700MQ @ 2.4GHz (Turboboost: 3.4GHz)
OS: Linux
Time: 9 minutes, 33 seconds

I'm a dumbass: before running the benchmark, make sure that Framelimit is set to "Off". The new .7z (currently uploading) should fix that.
