OpenGL is okay. But when D3D9 is dropped, the options of Windows XP users will be very limited. They will not have an alternative when a game has issues with OpenGL.

Yup. And that's one of the main reasons why the windows builds are widely considered better. D3d9 and d3d11 can be used to fix a lot of issues.
