Netplay New Super Mario Bros Wii

Me and my friend want to play New Super Mario Bros Wii together via Netplay. But as soon as we enter the game we cant press any buttons. However this problem does not occure when we play single player. Can somebody help us so we have a great time?

Wii remote netplay requires a bit more configuration than gc. For example, everyone must configure the controller for their desired port, and not always port 1 (player 2 needs to configure wii remote 2). You will also need to use the assign controller ports menu to set the wiimotes.
