We've been able to play mario kart Wii with our controllers set up as gamecube pads, but when we try a game like New Super Mario Bros. Wii, which required a wiimote, it pops up with a message saying that it desynced.
Netplay Desyncs when using Wiimotes

I'm having the very same issue. I managed to get it to work yesterday, and it worked flawlessly, but since then I haven't been able to get it working again. It's funny because it works exactly like intended with all GC games, and this issue persists in /all/ wii games I've tried, and desyncs immediately at startup.

For me, wii games work fine as long as they are games that allow GC controllers and that we are using our controllers as GC controllers 03-09-2015, 12:12 PM

The wiimotes are the root of the issue for me, too. 03-09-2015, 07:10 PM
Make sure your settings, including nand and everything are identical. Wiimotes are more sensitive to minor differences.

I actually tried sending my friend my entire dolphin emulator folder (The one located in my documents; with nand and all), and had him delete his folder contents for mine so we'd have identical settings. Still didn't work though, unfournately. 03-10-2015, 04:11 AM
Wiimote Netplay doesn't work, whether you have:
- Two people download a fresh build, make it portable, change absolutely NOTHING, nor start any game. Set ISO path only. - Two people who have the EXACT SAME portable build, having sent the files, like the user in this thread. - One person running 2 copies of the exact same portable build on the same computer. - One person running the SAME INSTANCE of the build. Same User files. Same executable or not. Wiimote Netplay DOES NOT WORK (2 wiimotes+, wiimote slot 1 only is fine). Please stop directing users to the same old "make sure you did it right" bullshit. And to go in more details, previous builds at least started with 2+ wiimotes, but had 2 major issues, those being that wrong inputs were sent for the extensions, and games desync pretty much right away even without extensions. However the current build (5809) does not run with 2+ wiimotes at all. There was an accepted bug report for it that's now Fixed but I don't know about that. 03-10-2015, 09:51 AM

I have sent him my nand and we have even checked our settings multiple times to make sure they are exactly the same. I'd fucking love it if they would. Also the netplay guide is so out of date it still says dual core doesn't work in netplay. Important note, I did mess up with my first tests of the latest build by forgetting to change extensions of other wiimotes to nunchuk. Why do you have to turn them on to do that now though... Previous issue about extensions is still the same though, which makes most games unplayable, I'm currently testing the desync issue. Wiimote netplay has just been ignored forever. They had it working when developping it more than a year ago in unknown, very unstable conditions, recorded that NSMBW video, then implemented it, stuff happened, and now nobody can bother to actually look at it seriously. Can anyone even sincerely say they've played a wiimote-only game at any point, much less with the latest build? I've tried the conditions from my post above, by myself or with various combinations of (4) people, for close to 20 builds over all the range of builds since wiimote netplay was "implemented", and not once has it worked correctly. If someone was actually successful, I'd be very glad to see it, along with the build used and the detailed steps to proceed from downloading a fresh build archive, including the game played. For reference and to check if something could be wrong in there, here's what my steps are, for latest build: 1. Download build 4.0-5809 x64 2. Extract to new folder 3. Create file portable.txt alongside executable 4. Launch executable 5. Set ISO path 6. Turn dualcore off, or leave on, I always do both tests, starting from scratch 7. Turn on Render to Main Window, because maximum ughering 8. Switch all 4 wiimotes to Emulated Wiimote 9. Go in each one's Config and switch extension to Nunchuk 10. Turn wiimote 2,3 and 4 back to None 11. Close Dolphin 12. Have someone else do the exact same steps up to now, or copy the dolphin folder locally, this will be player2 13. Host Mario Kart Wii PAL (RMCE01) as player1 14. Connect as player2 15. Assign Wiimote 0 to player1 and Wiimote 1 to player2 (I used to test with GC left on or off, but I've never seen it make a difference) 16. Start Results: Should get past wiimote instruction page fine, game saves fine, both cursors are fine, but upon reaching character selection for a 2 player game, player2's input for nunchuk joystick up and down (keyboard w and s) both move the selection down. All inputs for player2's extension are messed up, although they do sync on both ends. |
