Netplay controllers not working

I have been using dolphin for awhile now but today I tried to play with a friend. Neither one of our controllers would work and I dont know why. (Both of our controllers work on single player.....)

I am using an xbox controller by the way!

We are both using 4.0.2 and I do have two controllers enabled in game cube under configuration.

I don't think wiimotes work well in netplay.

Yea but ive seen people do it so thats what I was asking is how to do it

Are you turning on the Wii remotes under "configure pads" in the netplay game hosting window? If you don't specifically turn them on when you host, they will be off by default, even if they're turned on for offline play. That said, NSMB always went out of sync when I tried playing it online, but I can't say for sure that it wouldn't work for you.

I only have the option to change who controls what pad.... What version of dolphin are you using?

Oh yeah, you should try one of the latest versions.

ExtremeDude2 was right about updating, since your version doesn't have that option. I've only played online with a Wii remote in 4.0-6885 but the newer ones should work too.
