Now I would like to ask if that your going to run netplay with a friend that is running Dolphin 4.0.2 on windows x64 and if you are running dolphin 4.0 on mac does it affect the gameplay? or do you have to be on the same operating system? Does your friend have to be running openGL with you? Do you have to be duel-booting to windows from mac? and when I'm playing on dolphin 4.0 i get full speeds on almost every game except SMG & SMG 2 (obviously) Sorry i have a lot of questions, I'm a pretty smart 12 year old and understands about installed hardware about whats good to run on dolphin and not, I love to learn about tech.
Netplay?

I don't think you don't need to be on the same OS, or same graphics backend, but i'm not 100% sure.

All the OSes play together, and from what I know you can use whatever graphics backend you want. There could be exceptions to the rule, but most of the popular/tested games seem to follow this.

The tas i'm working on syncs only in opengl and software renderer. d3d9 and d3d11 both desync in the same way, like 15 minutes in. So i guess there's probably other games this happens, but it has to be very rare. I assume netplay is the same. 03-05-2014, 04:14 PM

Uh? Obviously using different settings isn't always going to sync. Dual core, zelda ucode hle, etc will also cause desyncs. But if you use the right settings, and keep them the same, there's hasn't been a single desync that wasn't caused by save state/wiimote bugs since i started using dolphin. And all such issues have been fixed, except with wiimote save states (wiimote without save states works perfectly, and gcpad even with save states does too). I never said there were no desyncs anywhere ever. Feel free to create a movie with dual core, hle, every hack turned on etc, then try to play it back with all the opposite settings and watch it fail to even get past the health and safety screen, if it'll make you happy to know i'm "wrong". If you give the same input (which doesn't just include controller button presses), with the proper settings, the result will be exactly the same, every single time, with the only exception being if you use wiimote+save states, and possibly some specifically crafted homebrew program you might create specifically to prove dolphin is not deterministic. Prove me wrong. 03-05-2014, 04:53 PM
I don't need to prove it, there's already a widely acknowledged example - go look at the benchmark thread, where dozens of people run the same program using the exact same settings and somehow manage to receive different output (time taken) at the end of the program.

"You" doesn't have to be you specifically. That was specifically made to not be deterministic. Great, you win. It's possible to create a program that isn't deterministic on dolphin. But so far, there has not been a single retail game found where that is the case.
