Need help using a USB Hub/Xbox One Controller

Let me just start by saying this emulator is amazing. I was able to just play Blitz with a friend 1v1 and it was a grand time. Here lies the problem:

My laptop has 3 USB jacks. I want to use 4 controllers at once. I went to Walmart and bought a USB Hub, plugged it in, then plugged my Xbox One controller in to it. The controller turns on and the light on the hub also lights up instantly so I know they're "detected/functioning" on the laptop side of things.
The problem is when I plug the controller in to the hub it doesn't work. I have no controls in the games and I can't even remap the controls on the emulator itself. Nothing. Does anyone know how to get the controller working thru the USB Hub?

Here's the one I bought. Like I said the controller works fine when not in the hub and straight in to the laptop.

Thx all!

I shared the wrong one. I can't seem to find it online now but it's a hub not a charger. That's the brand though.

Side note: if I got a Bluetooth USB receiver would I be able to use 1 receiver for 4 Xbox one controllers or do they all need their own?

Wireless XBox One controllers use a proprietary wireless protocol, so you have to use the official adapter, not a Bluetooth one, but it is the case that you can connect four controllers via the same adapter.

As for the USB hub, there are a couple of possibilities. It could be broken, so I'd check it with other devices, and it could just not be powerful enough for the load a controller puts on it, so I'd consider trying a powered model.

You can use bluetooth on newer xbox one controllers, but I don't know if you can get all 4 on one (bluetooth) adapter, you could probably do 2 wired and 2 on bluetooth.
