Hello guys, I'm currently having a problem running "Super Mario Galaxy 2" at a steady 60 frames per second. I checked the compatibility for the game and it's playable. I was given a new gaming pc by my family as a christmas gift. It is the Razer Blade Pro, the Full HD model. Before I played SMG2 for the first time on Dolphin, I assumed that it should run at a steady 60 fps, because of the specs of my laptop. However I was wrong. When it boots up and goes into the wii remote pictures, it's running at 60 fps, but as soon as it goes into the intro, the game goes and maintains a solid 30 fps. I tried playing around with the settings for about a week now and I still haven't had any luck. I was wondering if anybody can help me with my issue.

Here are my specs:

Dolphin 5.0 x64
Windows 10 Home x64
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060
Intel Core i7 7700k @ 2.80GHz
16GB DDR4
(If you need more info, let me know)

Hi,

Do you have the same problem on other games?
I've just tried the PAL version and it's running at constant 60fps.
What happened if you disable verical synch?

Also, make sure you´re using High Performance mode on NVidia´s Control Panel and on Windows.
Rig 1: Windows 10 Home | AMD A6-1450 @ 600/1000/1400 MHz | AMD Radeon HD Graphics 8250 | 4GB RAM | HP Pavilion TouchSmart 11.

Rig 2: Windows 10 Pro | Intel Core i7-2640M @ 780/2800/3500 MHz | Intel HD 3000 Mobile | 8GB RAM | Dell Latitude 6320.

Before I changed any settings I did test out other games, and they all run at 30 fps. I then enabled High Performance mode on both Windows and Nvidia's Control Panel. After enabling those settings, as soon as the game boots up it doesn't go near 60 fps, but rather maintains 30 fps. Also when you said "verical synch", I assumed you were talking about V-Sync. I already had that setting turned off.

1. Download the latest dolphin development version from here: https://dolphin-emu.org/download/?ref=btn and scroll down a bit

2. Make sure your CPU is running full speed, according to your opening post it says 2.8GHz but your 7700k should have a baseclock of 4.2GHz and a turboboost of 4.5GHz.
3. Make sure your power settings in Windows are set to High performance
4. Make sure your power settings in the nVidia control panel are set to Prefer maximum performance
5. Set up Dolphin using the following settings for a start:
   -Internal resolution 3x
   -Anti-aliasing 1x
   -Anisotropic filtering: 16x
   -Ubershaders Hybrid
   -Graphics back end D3D
-All other Graphic settings untouched on default.
   -Sound: HLE and CubeB backend.

If you still have speed issues: please post all your settings for Dolphin, If the problem is solved starting from there take small steps in improving the graphics quality (eg. 4x IR or 2xMSAA)

Okay so now I replaced Dolphin 5.0 with Dolphin 5.0-6152, I changed my settings to High Performance, Prefer maximum performance, plus all of the Dolphin configurations changed as well. After altering all of my settings I managed to get and maintain 60 fps. The only thing I got to fix is my processor. I downloaded Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and ran a few benchmark tests, and my maximum processor frequency was at 3.52GHz for some reason. You mentioned that the 7700k has a baseclock of 4.2 GHz and turboboost at 4.5GHz, but mine doesn't want to go to those frequencies. Any other configuration in order to make it better? Other than that, thank you for helping me resolve my issues so that I can now play games at 60 fps.

Is your cooling sufficient? It might be downclocking because it gets too hot, try checking the temps with an application like HWinfo or so.

BTW, is this a laptop? Because the i7 7700HQ (it is a mobile variant) has a baseclock of 2.8GHz and a max turboboost of 3.8GHz.

BTW2, just looked up the Razer Blade Pro FullHD and it indeed is a laptop and comes with a Core i7 7700HQ, so your clocks are good. If you could cool it even more (maybe a laptop cooling pad, they cost like 25 dollar) you might be able to get up to 3.8GHz.
