hello to whomever reads this
I've looked around and I haven't really got a straight answer. I recently got a new computer and I was wondering which graphics card will max out dolphin.
I've read that a 750 ti will do even a 760. Does anyone have these cards with results any help/suggestions will do. [:

I currently have an i7 4790k (not sure if this info is needed)
CPU: i7 4790k @ 4.0 GHz l GPU: GTX 960 4GB l RAM: 16GB
Dolphin 4.0-9144

No GPU can "max" out graphical settings (everything chokes on 9xSSAA and 4x IR, using Nvidia Inspector for 9xSSAA of course). Tell us what kind of settings you're looking to run. 4xSSAA and 4xIR? 4xIR with no AA? 1080p only?

4xIR and 4xSSAA sounds about the range i was looking at. As for these settings on all the wii/gcn games. Thanks for the quick reply.
1080p or higher would nice.

Don't think a 760 would hit 4xIR with 4xSSAA, definitely not a 750 Ti. That's just too demanding (Dolphin would essentially be generating an image at 8xIR with those settings). You'd probably have to look at 770 or above or maybe an R9 290(X). I honestly don't know about AMD's GPU atm, haven't kept up with their products.

Even a 770 struggles a little with 4xAA and 4xIR. I usually stick with 3xIR and 2xAA which seems to give smooth playback.

Please specify which type of AA you're talking about fringle. 4xSSAA is completely different from 4xMSAA (and I can only assume you mean 2xMSAA, there technically is no such thing as 2xSSAA). But I agree, when I think about it more even a GTX 770 may have trouble with some games (SMG 1&2, Xenoblade Chronicles, any GPU intensive game) with 4xIR and 4xSSAA. Those are insane settings, and you probably won't notice a difference between that and 3xIR and 4xSSAA (which is more realistic for a 770) unless you happen to have a 4K display.

Sapphire R9 280X is superior to Nvidia GTX 770 in Dolphin due to higher memory bandwidth
At least you will get 3GB version for 100$ less . Vram does matter for high res texture

Sorry, yes it is 2xMSAA. Didn't notice the 4xSSAA until just now. Will give it a try when I get home to see how it preforms over MSAA on the 770.

No it really isn't. Thanks to NVIDIA's wonder driver, the GTX770 is now more comparable to a R9 290. Memory bandwidth doesn't matter nowadays.
