Wrong forum but...,
Download a Windows 7 DVD off the web (Whatever version you have), since you have the Key it's not illegal... Burn it onto a dvd and install it (01-07-2012, 05:53 AM)Anti-Ultimate Wrote: Download a Windows 7 DVD off the web (Whatever version you have), since you have the Key it's not illegal... Whaa... by "off the web," I hope you're not talking about torrents or download site, because it's still illegal, thanks to copyright laws. MS dictates who has "the right to copy" any of their software. The only thing they give you is a "license" to use the OS. You can download Win 7 (as I did, Home Premium with some $30 Student Program) only when you purchase a license and get the OS from MS themselves or a vendor that MS says can distribute it. It doesn't matter if someone holds a license, the act of downloading is an act of copying, which MS hasn't authorized. Sorry for getting a bit pedantic, but that's how these laws work. Anyway, more pertinent to CloudKashimura's question, are you sure that the hard drive is properly connected inside your machine. Open it up and inspect the cables. It might just be a loose connection, hence your XP CD can't see anything. Also, your drive might be a SATA drive, and your XP CD might not have the necessary drivers to recognize it at all. This problem's pretty well known, so Google around for a few solutions. Another case might be that your drive's got a faulty boot section. There's a commandline program included on the XP CD called fixmbr on Windows that might be able to help. Though you really ought to double down and buy a new OS. XP's stable, yes, but it's aging more and more everyday. You're only putting off the inevitable upgrade anyway. You'll turn up relatively low prices if you carefully look around the net. 01-07-2012, 07:37 AM
