I am troubleshooting with New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Luigi's Mansion. These games used to work perfectly on my laptop in full screen on 4.0.2, but the Wii games are getting stuck at 50% FPS at full screen. Any ideas?

EDIT: I actually was regularly running Wii and GameCube games at 4x native smoothly and even GameCube games are lagging below 50% FPS at 4x on my Dolphin 5.0.

Specs:
Operating System: Windows 8.1 x64bit
Processor/CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-4700HQ CPU @ 2.40GHz
Video Card/GPU: Nvidia GTXM 880
Memory/RAM: 24 GB
Dolphin Revision Currently Using: 4.02

1st, try lowering the ir and see if that improves performance.  Also make sure the laptop isn't overheating, and make sure your NVidia card & laptop are set to high performance
Windows 11 Home x64
Intel Core i7-10700
Nvidia Rtx 2060 6GB
32.0 GB DDR4 RAM

Thank you, sorry I'm sort of a newbie (especially to 5.0) but what does IR stand for?

Please update to the latest 5.0 , we don't support old version
And if you want your laptop to run most games at full speed , you must force both CPU and GPU to run at maximum speed . For Example , your CPU must run at 3.2 or 3.3GHz (Turbo Boost) , not 2.4GHz ; your GPU must run at 954MHz or higher frequency (GPU Boost)
Here is how to do that
https://dolphin-emu.org/docs/faq/#my-laptop-new-gpu-not-performing-well-it-should
Unlike Desktop , laptop is not made to run at maximum speed due to high temperature . Turbo boost and GPU boost will not kick in if your laptop run too hot at full load , some manufacturers even go too far and lock down both CPU and GPU

Yes I just tried doing it and it looked like it was overloading my system. However, I have 2 large turbo fans that keep it very cool so it doesn't over heat. I think it's just too much power. I just wish it ran like my 4.0.2 did :\ It ran the graphics well without going crazy, but the Wiimote-TR doesn't work on it and Toshiba Stack no longer exists.

Also this post is about 5.0, not the 4.0.2. I am specifically already talking about the 5.0. My games won't run 100% on low settings on 5.0, despite my laptop's power.

Too much power ? Nah , most people here have 3.4->5.0GHz CPU, there is a benchmark thread on hardware forum , you can confirm it with your own eyes . Your CPU is too slow compared to them
For most games , your CPU must run at 3.3GHz all the time . I also have the similar laptop and I overclocked the CPU to 3.6GHz , most if not all games run full speed on Dolphin 5.0
Dolphin is not even demanding as Citra emu , as only i7 4790k @ 4.5 -> 5.0GHz can run game well atm
Also , update your OS to windows 10 and use latest Direct3d12 backend could help a bit . Both Direct3d11 and OpenGL are slower

Cool thanks man. I don't know a lot about overclocking, so this advice really helps. I don't know what happened, I dialed everything all the way up here (http://imgur.com/a/lPHfB) and here (http://imgur.com/a/8YAaX) on New Super Mario Bros. Wii (on Dolphin 5.0) and what happened after was insane. I have never seen this computer crash the way this did but after a moment it all came back. The desktop was black and my task manager window and dolphin windows were all (Not Responding) and white on the inside. I was afraid something bad would happen to my computer and I had to reinstall the driver for my Nvidia GTX 880M.

Any idea what happened to me? Overclocking has always been kind of complicated for me. I will check out that post you mentioned. So you think my CPU is too slow? And you have a similar laptop? Will my i4700 HQ be able to run well full screen? It did on the older Dolphin versions.

I will consider upgrading Windows 10, I wish I did it when it was free. When I upgrade it will I lose all my files and programs?

You should not bother with that option , that has nothing to do with overclocking . It's an option that allow user to change Wii CPU clock speed
Game may break if you enable it

This also won't work when you run Dolphin . There is "Nvidia default profile" on Nvidia Control Panel ...Unless you change that profile , your GPU clock speed can't be changed when you run Dolphin
And you shouldn't bother with GPU overclocking , it won't help . You only need to force it to run at a certain speed , no throttle , no slowdown whatsoever .

As for CPU overclocking . If you read the performance guide , you should know that guide has nothing to do with overclocking . All you have to do is to force CPU to run at maximum speed which is somewhere around 3.2 to 3.3GHz and this speed should be fine for most games
I overclock my CPU because I need that speed for demanding emulators other than Dolphin

Your gpu overclock is ridiculous. World record is 8400 mhz, and that was with LIGUID NITROGEN! My gpu overclock is a 121 mhz memory OC. That's why you crashed.
http://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-gtx-980-overclocked-22ghz-previous-overclocking-world-record-smashed/

And the cpu overclock in dolphin is Emulated cpu. For Majora's Mask it probably runs around 15-20 fps at full speed (30 when paused) at 100% speed and clock. 400% would be slightly harder to be fullspeed but be a consistent 20/30

I did read the performance guide, but I think I've just been getting confused about what overclocking is in general (sorry very new to this). Just not sure how I actually force my CPU to run at maximum speed to run Dolphin. Would you mind pointing this out for me? Sorry, don't mean to be a burden, and I appreciate all the advice.
