Hello.

As the title says this game is lagging when I play it, at the start of the race it drops down to 24fps or even during the race it drops under 30.
I already looked at the performance guide and set it all up.
My brother has the same problem when running Paper Mario.
Can this be fixed somehow or is that an issue of the game itself?
For sure shouldn't be my PC being too weak to run it.

1st, make sure your computer & GPU are set for high performance. Also, what video backend are you using? What are your graphic settings? Your rig is similar to mine & I don't experience any slowdowns so it shouldn't be an issue with the game

EDIT: I just noticed it says that you're running Dolphin 4.0?!!? NNNNOOOOOOooo! Update to 5.0 stable or one of the latest GIT builds. 4.0 is no longer supported

I am using OpenGL backend and here more infos:

other: everything turned off besides show fps

Enhancements:

Anti-Aliasing: 4x SSAA
Antistropic Filtering: 16x ( had both of those turned all the way down as well but didnt change anything )
Post-Processing Effect: off
Scaled EFB Copy: on
everything else is turned off

Hacks:
Skip EFB Acces from CPU: on
Ignore Format Changes: On
EFB Copies: Texture
Texture Cache Accuracy: Fast
External Frame Buffer: Disabled
Fast Depth Calculation: On
Disable Destination Alpha: On
Rest is turned off again

And in the Advanced Tab everything is turned off

Thanks for the info. I edited my 1st post, make sure you're running 5.0 stable or one of the latest GIT builds. 4.0 is no longer supported. Go into your NVIDIA control panel. Under Manage 3D settings, change power management mode to Prefer Maximum Performance

While playing the game, if you're playing in fullscreen, hit alt+enter to go to play the game in a window. Play the game for a while & see what VPS shows (upper left corner). It should show a constant 60 - 100%. If that stays constant, then it's playing full speed

sometimes drops down a bit to around 55-95% but the framerate drops a lot while playing...no idea why

The frame rates fluctuate for me too, but some games do that. That's why it's recommended to go by the VPS. Dragon's Lair 3D is another example where the FPS jump all over the place during game play. Try adjusting some of the graphic settings. Set Anti-Aliasing to 2x SSAA and Antistropic Filtering no higher than 4x (I just use 2x) and see if that will give you a constant VPS of 100%

it is running at 60-100 but the frame drops really do suck...makes the game pretty much unplayable especially if u try to do drift races on hard difficulty :/

you shouldn't see any frame drops as long as it's staying at 100%. Unless it's loading the shader cache & that should only last a split second. Maybe someone else can come up with some ideas. While I see the FPS fluctuate while playing the game, it still runs smoothly the whole time
