was looking to get wii remotes off amazon. now here i was debating if i should get the wii motion plus built in a knock off controller or a knock off with a dongle... maybe it just me but i am really rocking how it feels with the dongle and the battery life: anybody else feel this way?
i just see that the wii remote digs its' corner into my hand as per without the dongle and with dongle it sits comfy in my hand. don't get me wrong i got small wide hands...
let the debate begin

Don't buy a knockoff Wii Remote! They're a huge pain to get working with Dolphin.

I've personally found that knockoff remotes work just fine.. but only when using Bluetooth Passthrough, this is a must imo. As for the remote itself though.. I mean they were ok I guess if that's all you could get, but absolutely a step down to an official remote, just really cheap feeling in every way and poor dpads for games where you hold the wiimote sideways. So with that in mind I would never recommend a knockoff controller, especially since it seems wiimotes are so easy to find. Feels like every pawn shop just has bins of them. Also I wouldn't be surprised if the dongle didn't work with a knockoff wiimote.

As for the original question. I have 2 wiimotes with motion plus built in, and 2 older wiimotes that I can use with 2 dongles. I kind of like both I guess, but usually I go for the built in motion plus and I don't have an issue with them digging into my hands. I kind of like the dongle for golf games though, just feels more natural

i have no trouble. i just go to Devices and Printers add it and then pair it when i open dolphin. and the remote connects to the bluetooth in half a second.

i have an original wii remote and can not get it to connect so i rather have a knock off that works

oddly i can not use bluetooth pass through and my remotes don't feel cheap. and mine feel top notch.

i think it is the white only ones that have issues. but who knows...

i will say i enjoy it 100% so try and catch me on an online session and expect me to use that knock off

Hey if it works for you and you enjoy it then that's all that matters

If you are on Windows 7 and can't use Bluetooth passthrough, it may be your best option. But that's a rather specific set of constraints...
