I'm just showing off. It really wasn't complicated and took maybe 15 minutes to do, which is probably the coolest part. I got tired of buying batteries and this thing eating them up every 2 weeks. I didn't think it would work at first because 4x1.5=6V but I figured rechargables also work so 4x1.2= about 5V and bam.
I tried to solder the wires to some dead batteries but my solder wouldn't stick well. You could probably just solder to the terminals, but I wanted be able to still use batteries if I needed to in the future. The wires are just pressed in there by the batteries. you could drill a hole and wrap a rubber band around the cable on the inside as a cable retainer if you wanted but I didn't get fancy.
