Before I start...
First of all, let me say that I've been a software developer for 14 years already, so I know how to deal with drivers, configs etc.
Second thing, I have read through everything the internet forums have to offer on this matter. None of those solutions work for me.
Third thing, I am running the latest version of Windows 10, with the latest stable version of Dolphin, installed today.
Fourth thing, in the controllers tab, I have both of them as "Real Wiimote", not emulated one.
So, I have the Mayflash DolphinBar, when arrived I checked that it was already updated to the latest firmware 0.9, and two non-original knockoff Wiimotes from AliExpress. I will refer to them as the Green colored wiimote, and the second as the Blue. I ordered them from two different sellers, months apart, so they might have some internal differences between each other.
Green is RVL-CNT-01. Green is more stable, I could connect it to any bluetooth adapter, and it kind of worked, but with Dolphinbar it is way more stable, not perfect, but decent and playable enough.
Blue, I don't know whether its just RVL-CNT-01 or -TR, because it never managed to connect to my computer to be able to see the model. The same bluetooth adapters that connect to the Green Wiimote, don't connect at all to the Blue. Somehow I managed with Zadiq to make the drivers work for the blue... just barely. It was still a very bad experience, disconnecting extremely often and a headache to connect.
Anyway, with Mayflash DolphinBar, on Windows 10, I get kind of okay experience with Green, enough to play, but Blue has problems with Dolphinbar. Like, if Green connects as player 1, Green vibrates, and its ready to play. But then Blue, connects takes much longer than Green to connect, notices player1 is occupied, so the second light for player2 lights on the wiimote, but doesn't vibrate. And I can't play with it. At all, never succeeds. If Green connects as player2, Blue will light as player1, but again, Green is seen inside the games as player2, but Blue is nowhere to be seen. So there is some kind of connection, since it can see what player is occupied, but doesn't vibrate, and the final connection doesn't fulfil.
Anyway, someone on the forum mentioned in worked for them on Linux, but Windows caused problems. Dolphin devs mentioned that doesn't make sense at all, and me, being an experience developer myself, was honestly not sure if Linux or Windows should make a difference.
So, YOLO, I installed the latest Zorin OS (Linux), built dolphin from source, wrote those udev rules, so that Dolphinbar can work on Linux.
And Blue Wiimote finally worked !!! ... kind of ... after lots of retries, I would manage to connect both Green and Blue as both players simultaneously, and play with both. But if I stop the game, and open it again or another game, its a headache again to connect either of them. I would try closing completely Dolphin, replugging the USB, taking of the batteries in wiimotes to reconnect the right way...
I had more luck in Linux connecting both of them as admin (sudo -i), but this was also very rare.
From your discussions in the forums, I suspect you would:
- Consider DolphinBar is faulty. But that can not be the case, Green wiimote on windows 10 gets a pretty decent playing experience with it.
- You might blame the problems since they are non-original knockoffs from Aliexpress. Well Green works very good on Windows 10. Blue has problems on Linux. But so does the Green on Linux has problems as well, the same ones as the Blue.
Oh and another thing. I have no problems using Green and Blue, as a clumsy mouse, using mode 2 or 3 (forgot which) on the DolphinBar. This proves as a device all of them are kind of good.
And also I have no problems, NONE AT ALL, connection BLUE in Windows 10, as EMULATED Wiimote. I can assign AB12+- any button, all work perfectly. Except that ... of course I have no idea how to incorporate motion controls with emulated wiimote, when a real wiimote is connected through DolphinBar.
To summarize, Blue wiimote never ever worked for me on Windows 10 with DolphinBar (except when I played with another Bluetooth adapter and BT passthrough, but it was still very bad reconnecting experience). And only on Linux I was able to connect the Blue with dolphinbar. But still very often disconnects, and have trouble reconnecting.
Dolphin developers - any thoughts ?
I would gladly help and collaborate and share some more info/data, that you might find helpful.
I just wish I can finally connect both wiimotes, and play coop with my brother uhhhh...
Sorry for the long post
