Emulating a console has nothing to do with the original hardware.
The N64 for example utilizes a 94mhz processor and 4MB of ram. But for accurate command emulation on PC it needs at least 3.0ghz and 512MB of ram, and even for the solution used in current emulators like project64, at least a 1.6ghz processor for proper speed in some games.
Also, some games like god of war II for PCSX2 consume huge amounts of memory while operating, many times more than the entire capacity of the PS2 itself.
They are not comparable in any way.
