You're right on the desktop part and i was not talking about desktop (The OP used a laptop right ?) . When you plug a graphic card in your desktop , the graphic card will be used , not the integrated one (except AMD APU which can do crossfire) .
However , Laptop with Nvidia Optimus are the opposite . You can force a certain game using a dedicated GPU but you can't use dedicated GPU all the time .
I have a laptop with Nvidia Optimus , i know what i'm saying . There is no way to disable integrated GPU completely , you're only able to adjust which GPU will be used via Nvidia Control Panel
