Hello all!
I recently found this awesome emulator! I'm going to talk about my experiences regarding it so that hopefully other people in the future can look to this for aid.
My system specs:
Asus F9s
Windows 7 64 Bit
nVidia 84o0m G
2 GB RAM
2.2 Ghz Core 2 Duo
I first had my friend convert my MK DD into iso and tried using that. After some tweaking and playing around with, I was able to get a comfortable 30 fps. One thing that I highly recommend is upgrading your graphics driver. No joke! I got the difference between night and day! At first, I was getting low 20s FPS. After upgrading, my FPS rocketed towards the low 30s!
Some thing else that I tried was using the Direct 3D 9 plugin. This boosted my FPS to mid 40s and I am very happy with it now!
The same friend doesn't play his GC anymore so I pretty much bought all of his games. He converted Zelda TP for me to iso as well. Using it with the OGL plugin, I got a decent 15-20 fps, which is playable. Anything above 15 is pretty smooth and not as choppy, so I was quite happy with it. I tried using the D3D9 plugin here and my FPS plummeted for some reason. I've read a number of times that using this plugin boosts up your FPS by 400%? Can anyone help me out here?
Lastly, one of the games that I have never played before was Baldur's Gate, which my friend had included in the pack he gave me. I tried playing that with the OGL plugin, but didn't get anything other than a black screen. After tweaking my system around a bit, I still wasn't able to get anything. Finally, I decided to use the D3D9 Plugin here and I finally got something! Very nice FPS, nearing 30.
Those are the only three games I've tried. And from what I've noticed, D3D9 and OGL plugins work variably on different games. Also, I've seen that FPS tends to dip whenever there is a highly lighted area, and picks up in darker areas. This has happened so far in MK DD and Z:TP. I couldn't say much for Baldur's Gate because I haven't played it too much and I JUST got it working. This happens regardless of the graphics plugin. So if there is a way to tone down the brightness of the game, I'd say it might improve your FPS
I'll post up more info as I find anything deemed worthy of posting here. This is all for now. Please tell me more about the "400% speed increase" for Z:TP and where I can get it.
Next thing I want to try is how the FPS stays up when playing with 1-3 other people with gamepads.
Thanks!
