Like the title says.

Every time I go on, it crashes, and then my computer freezes up and I have to hard reset it. Any ideas how I can fix this?

Here are my specs.

AMD FX 8320 3.5 GHz
NVidia GEforce 760
16gb Ram
Windows 7 Home x64

More than likely an issue with your PC, not Dolphin.

Possible causes off the top of my head, in no particular order.

1. Defective hardware (RAM is the most common hardware related cause of a PC lockup)

2. Unstable overclock

3. Driver conflict\Bad driver

4. Insufficient power supply

More information on the cause would be available in the administrator event viewer in the control panel. The computer should be blue screening instead of locking up, which is the first hint that it is not Dolphin.

I agree with Test876 that it is very unlikely to be an issue with Dolphin, but to be sure: try reinstalling Dolphin and if that does not work, some other dev versions or 4.0.2. (stable).
I think it is useful for us to know a little more about your crash, like:
Where does it crash: on startup or in game? If in game, what games did you try?
Does it freeze suddenly or can you see "Dolphin.exe has stopped working" message?
And of course: What Dolphin version do you use? and Have you tried to stop Dolphin.exe using Task Manager? (works with my crashes if the "Dolphin.exe has stopped working" message does not show up). Does your computer also crash when other programs crash?

When some heavy programs crash on my computer and I have USB sticks or something plugged in then my computer freezes and crashes too so make sure that's not the case with you.
There sure are other weird cases so be sure to share all information even if you and I find the information useless, better give too much information then too less. Smile

I tried running 4.0.2 and it worked perfectly! Unfortunately, I want to play Netplay for Smash, and most people play 4.0.648. I can start the program, but if I click certain options (such as Wiimote/GC Controller), or if I try to play a game, it will just stop responding. I then have to force quit it with Task Manager, as its completely frozen. There is no "Dolphin.exe has stopped working" message. I can't imagine its a problem with my computer, as I haven't had any problems with any other programs.

Try unplugging all of your non essential USB devices.

Yes, unplug any USB devices as they can cause freezing and crashes and stuff, and try a newer dev version of Dolphin, perhaps? Don't think that netplay ability won't be available in versions newer then 4.0.648. You can find newer version in the download section (of course)

I have no knowledge when it comes to dev versions or netplay, this is all I can think of. Perhaps some others may know some more answers.

Hmm. The only non essential USB I have is a webcam, but I'll try anyway. And its not as much that I can only use 4.0.648, but that I need to use the same version as the person I play against, and most people use that version.

SDL sees the webcam as a controller with a thousand buttons and crashes the emulator.
