If that same hardware used in that video tried to play that same game with 3.5 or newer, it'd more likely than not get worse performance. The requirements to run a lot of games has gone up, though there are cases where it went down. If you want to get that kind of performance, you'll have to look at older builds, which may have bugs that have since been fixed in recent revisions.
Damn, that seems like a lot of trial and error. Thought Dolphin was simple to use after all the years of revisions and builds.

Battalion Wars and Virtua Quest are more demanding than Wario World and Chibi Robo.

You mentioned overclocking. It might help you indeed

Dolphin is relatively simple to use and play games at fullspeed, so long as your computer is fast enough. A certain level of hardware will generally run Dolphin fullspeed under most circumstances, though not in every case (no hardware can run Dolphin fullspeed all the time atm).

Rather than going through a long process of finding out which revision causes speed drops in which games, most people come here and ask us "is hardware ABC capable of running games XYZ" and that usually cuts out a lot of uncertainty and surprises.

Agreed. The emulator has become pretty simple to use but with the goal of emulation accuracy the requirements have increased and will continue to do so. Your cpu at 2.8 ghz, max turbo of 3.1 which you probably won't get, is a little on the slow side for a lot of games.

You mentioned overclocking. Is your system an oem pc. If so overclocking is out of the question. If not did you spend the extra money on a good motherboard I.e. p67, z68? If not overclocking is out of the question. If you can overclock you will only be able to go like 4 bins over the top turbo. So something around 3.5 for this chip. Someone with more knowledge can interject here. I'm only remembering from research I did in the months leading up to the sandy bridge launch. 3.5 ghz will be a lot better for dolphin but you will still run into a lot of games where you can't run/maintain full speed.

Well I know nothing about overclocking so idk if I should dab into that, it was merely a thought but if it's not hard (and won't have consequences) then I may look into it. I'm not very computer savvy but that's what I'll learning in college soon.

Has no-one noticed that the OP is using an i5 2300? even with the best motherboard, that's not an overclocker (it's got a locked multiplier). Depending on the motherboard, you may be able to lock it into turbo boost, but not much more.
OS: Windows 10 64 bit Professional
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5900X
RAM: 16GB
GPU: Radeon Vega 56

Yeah I noticed. Like I said he can still overclock 4 bins on the turbo multiplier with an appropriate board.

Edit. And if he is feeling extra brave, and lucky, he could probably hit 107 on bclk for an extra ~200 MHz.

You could try r6515... If your game is compatible with this revision, then you'll probably get fullspeed...
Avell A70 MOB: Core i7-11800H, GeForce RTX 3060, 16 GB DDR4-3200, Windows 11 (Insider Preview)
