Hello all. New user here. My apologies for starting off with a problem, but that's usually how things go on support forums I guess.
I've searched the forum and read the related wiki entries about this problem. I will admit to finding similar threads, but no solutions. I also found a thread with an identical problem (although on a different OS) and again there was no solution that I could use.
I figured instead of hijacking another thread (or resurrecting an old one) it would be best to make a new one with full information.
Problem description
I am unable to connect multiple WiiMotes to Dolphin.
The procedure is as follows:
Open the WiiMote menu > Select 2 or 3 "Real WiiMotes" from the drop-down lists > Put the WiiMotes in "discoverable" mode (1+2 or 'sync' button) > Press "Refresh",
What results is only one of the WiiMotes vibrates and keeps LED 1 turned on. The configuration windows shows 2 or 3 connected WiiMotes, depending on how many I had put into discoverable mode.
Turning on the Wii console to power the sensor bar, I can only use the WiiMote that was apparently connected (the one with LED 1 on). Any button press on one of the other two controllers results in them connecting to the, now powered, Wii console.
Alternatively, I have tried to connect the controllers by putting them into discoverable mode and pressing refresh sequentially, one at a time. This has the same end results, i.e., only the first controller remains connected and no other controller is able to connect after that.
Notes
- Which controller connects successfully appears to be random when using the first procedure (i.e., trying to connect all simultaneously).
- All three have connected and worked at least once on their own.
- Connecting a single controller to Dolphin always succeeds, assuming there is no other controller already connected.
- Where I mention "2 or 3" in the above procedures, implies that I have tried it with either 2 or 3 controllers multiple times. The results are the same.
- Whether I use "1+2" or the sync button under the battery lid has the same effect.
Software and hardware specs
- OS: Ubuntu 10.04.3 (32 bit, PAE kernel; 2.6.32-37-generic-pae)
- Dolphin (both had the same behaviour, although different controller menu):
--- Compiled from source: Downloaded and compiled today (23 Feb) from http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/wiki/Linux_Build (followed instructions)
--- Version 3.0 from PPA: http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/wik...tuPackages
- Controllers:
--- RVL-003: No motionplus (if I remember correctly, this was the one bundled with my Wii console).
--- RVL-036: Motionplus inside.
--- RVL-036: LoZ: Skyward Sword gold controller (Motionplus inside).
- Bluetooth Dongle: ID 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth Dongle (HCI mode)
--- Found on compatibility list on Dolphin wiki.
I would also list full hardware specs but I don't think that's necessary for this problem. They are available on my forum profile if required.
So am I doing something wrong? Is this an issue with the Linux builds of Dolphin? Could it be a driver issue with my bluetooth dongle, or perhaps a configuration option I'm missing?
Thanks for any help.
