Multiple WiiMotes getting assigned to same controller

I'm using 4 real Wiimotes - made by Nintendo, with motion plus built in - together with a MayFlash DolphinBar (in mode 4, with the latest firmware 0x4 installed.) I'm using the latest Dolphin build, 4.0-7141.

I'm finding it impossible to play games with more than one WiiMote. Here's what happens:

1. Before launching Dolphin, I can turn on each WiiMote and they sync successfully with the DolphinBar. The first WiiMote lights up with the first light on indicating it's mapped to controller #1. The second lights up for controller #2, etc.

2. Upon launching Dolphin, some or all of the WiiMotes rumble and will get re-assigned to the same controller. For example, all four WiiMotes might rumble and then all change their LED's to indicate they all think they are controller #1. Sometimes only two or three will pair up to the same controller ID, but in any case, trying to play a game in this configuration won't work.

I've tried every possible sequence I can think of to work around this to no avail - as soon as Dolphin recognizes more than one controller, it gets confused and maps multiple controllers to the same player. Even if I power up the WiiMotes after starting Dolphin, their lights will indicate they are all mapped to player #1.

Dolphin is configured with all 4 slots set to "real wiimote", and I've turned off speaker data and set the balance board to "none". I've tried both auto-refresh and manual pairing, but neither works with multiple WiiMotes.

I thought maybe Dolphin was getting confused between my motherboard's BlueTooth hardware and the DolphinBar's BlueTooth, but disabling the built-in one via the device manager made no difference.

Anyone else seeing this?

EDIT: I realize now I should have put this in the "Controllers" forum, but I don't see any way to move or delete this post. Apologies in advance to the moderators.
