Feel free to buy any closed source gamecube/wii emulator, or to look for another dolphin dev who is more interested in custom textures. I'm not sure which one is harder...

You're saying that as if everyone who works on proprietary software is skilled, and as if incoming contributions to Dolphin aren't reviewed before being accepted... If you don't want to bisect the issue, then that's fine, but you would probably get to see a fix quicker if you did. After all, Dolphin is open source, and anyone can contribute - no programming skills are needed for this task. In fact, I would say that this is the main disadvantage that Dolphin has compared to big proprietary projects - we simply don't have as many developers, and you can't expect the existing ones to do everything at once. (But of course, there are small proprietary projects too.)
Why not just stick using the version that was working perfect for now? I mean is it really that necessary to stay updated constantly, unless you really want a specific feature that you just must have. Heck I don't even use the latest dev. version, just saying (in fact, haven't been playing lately dammit been too busy).
Sometimes these things happen when staying up-to-date, not saying its bad. But usually there is going to be that one dev. version that introduces a regression because of some new feature added, and until that regression gets discovered and resolved who knows when it will be.

And unfortunately nobody is going to waste their time making one that's better. 10-06-2015, 03:48 AM

I would download the one that was working perfect with "Direct3D" but unfortunately I don't remember what build that was. I always download the latest builds, because I would expect better improvements, but however that's not always the case. 10-06-2015, 04:12 AM

Just like the issue am having with Direct3D being tremendously slower then OpenGL. This problem hasn't always existed. Not to this extreme. 15Fps in Windwaker at a messily 4x internal res is ridiculous. I don't know how this started, and or how long its been unnoticed. But I think its a problem with how Dolphin is handling texture packs with Direct3D. Like I previously mentioned, if I turn off texture packs, at 4x internal res it runs smooth. And also leaving texture packs on while playing at native res also runs smooth. '"BUT playing at 4x with texture packs on is slow!! I can play Open GL with 4x internal res along with the texture pack and I don't have any issues with it running slow. The problem is how Direct3D is handling textures. Is this not a known issue? Has this not been reported as of yet? And will this be eventually fixed?(10-05-2015, 11:56 PM)Lumbeeslayer Wrote: That's why open source projects are much worse then closed because any body can work on dolphin, even ones who aren't very skilled at programming, and then that's when things start breaking.
Just because anybody *can* submit bad code, doesn't mean that we merge that bad code.
There's been plenty of instances where terrible code has been either turned down until the author fixed it, or flat out closed. Anyways, if you're not really interested in getting your issue fixed (Which we can't do without you bisecting the issue), then perhaps this thread should be closed. Also, Config to see if framelimit is set to Auto. If you switched from a very old build to a more recent one, it gets set to a very low framelimit. 10-06-2015, 05:07 AM
I think the way the project is going is awesome. Even somebody without any coding skills at all can contribute, by just reporting a regression, and tracking down where it happened.
If you don't want to contribute ok, but then you don't have the right to complain, it's very simple. 10-06-2015, 05:28 AM
Hello Lumbeeslayer!
I represent the Dolphin User Experience Improvement Initiative and we take your complaints very seriously. Just for you, I have compiled a comprehensive guide on how to fix your first issue: 1. Start Dolphin. 2. Go to the graphics configuration dialog and select the OpenGL backend. 3. That's it! You're done! As for your second issue, I'm sorry to inform you that this is happening by design. We had a long and hard discussion about this and after much consideration we decided to take the color blue to the next level. Have a wonderful day!
