The second OS partition method I suggested could be a possible solution as you could use any OS whether it be an older 64bit version of Windows (other than XP) that doesn't require an email address or a "baby's first Linux" like Ubuntu or Linux Mint.
If you go down that route, I personally would recommend connecting a secondary hard drive to the PC and then installing this secondary operating system onto said secondary hard drive (the alternative would be shrinking the partition of your primary hard drive and creating an additional partition in the newly freed-up spaced).
