Why? A massive change in infrastructure would be a huge effort, so there's must be clear issues with the current system, and massive advantages of the system you plan to move to.
If it's just FUD, we're not interested. 06-05-2018, 05:49 AM
If GitHub goes down the pan and we need to migrate, it can be done relatively easily at a later date. If it turns out that M$ don't actually meddle with how GitHub works and operate it just like they operate LinkedIn (i.e. as its own thing and without making it worse), then it's a bunch of hassle that we've gone through for no reason.

Well, migrating isn't really easy. A lot of our CI would need modifications to work with GitLab. Which is all the more reason not to jump ship just because so far, nothing happened.

We aren't going to make decisions like a migration based on what could, maybe happen. If there's evidence that GitHub is becoming the next Google Code or SourceForge, then we should act, but doing it now is basically knee-jerk reactionism.
Although, nothing is stopping any one from testing out a migration. It'd be sweet if Dolphin hosted its own code on-site, but that's quite a bit of work. 06-05-2018, 07:07 AM

Yeah, sourceforge went "bad" for a while, but the latest owners seem intent on fixing it, and it seems a pretty solid platform again. Wonder how long it'll take to get the trust back, though.... Judging by the fact I'm way too emotional and outspoken with my opinions sometimes, I was quite calm when I got the news, with a shock, I was so upset I just couldn't even say anything, had to get out to some fresh air. So no rants, but yeah I would support move to GitLab or similar if things turn azure. FWIW from me anyway. MS has it's fingers in way to many things. Win10 spynet and Visual Studio telemetry ain't enough? (both of which don't affect me due to my tweaks and even DLL hacks ) EDIT: Someone already started uploading Dolphin Emu user styles to GitLab https://gitlab.com/dolphin-emu/user-styles/flat and https://gitlab.com/dolphin-emu/user-styles/qt-dark
Well, that's a reason not to migrate: someone has already camped on our name. That sounds like a royal mess to fix!
