Jgandy, you're wrong here about the Android version and 64 bit support. The OnePlus 5 has 64 bit support, also on Android 7. And to be honest, I doubt a bit that motorola updated 64 bit support in the Android 8 update - they would be the first manufactor which ships an ABI update at all. Also, dolphin performance does not depend on the Android version, just on the GPU driver version. So recent version is likely better, but you can't compare this to other devices...
Moto z2 force best phone for dolphin

Performance should be almost identical between SD835 devices and not a single SD835 device uses 32bit support, they're all 64bit.
In regards to the controller, while a first party mod is nice bluetooth controllers shouldn't have latency anyway. Also your controller lacks two shoulder buttons which may be a problem for some games (for example I get round the lack of analogue triggers for Mario Sunshine by mapping Z to LB and light press R to RB). Overall the Z2 Force is a good choice for Dolphin, same as any SD835 device. But the Galaxy S9 is out with a SD845 in some markets and there should be other devices with the SD845 in the coming months, so they should be the best you can get at the moment. But I'd expect it to still be a subpar experience with no big improvements or anything. 03-10-2018, 05:43 AM

So, it should work with dolphin just as well as your Z2. You setup does sound awesome though. How well does your phone run the heavier titles like RE4 or Twilight Princess? Just put Re4 disc one in, the audio is choppy and it's a little short of 30/60, I'm trying to upload the video now. Grey1213 it does have two shoulder buttons. It also has r3 and l3 if you click the sticks in. It's almost an identical layout to a PlayStation controller. And if I'm wrong I'm quite sorry, I thought Androids 7.1 operating systems where 32 bit. I thought Oreo was the first Android OS to go to the 64 bit OS but like I said, if I'm mistaken I apologise. 03-10-2018, 06:40 AM
Android has had 64bit versions for years, it's not something new with Oreo. Also, you shouldn't really get noticible input lag with bt controllers so while the mod is convinient it doesn't really justify the cost difference with some other devices. If you like the phone overall, it is worth it but it's not really any different than most flagships when we look just at emulation.

But remember, just because it "can" support 64-bits, doesn't mean the manufacturer has enabled it. Google aren't requiring 64-bit software support until 2019. 03-10-2018, 11:33 AM

The game pad Moto mod maps perfectly inside the emulator for GameCube set up (haven't tried mapping for wiimote) and I'm getting almost perfect speed while playing unless my battery is almost dead. This phone comes with the 64 bit version of 8.0 Oreo so it runs 64bit apps perfectly, 6 gigs of RAM and the Snapdragon 835 processor that can actually use it's 64 bit processor correctly paired beautifully with the Aderno 540 gpu. This phone is a game changer for Android based emulators. (Fun fact: it also runs damonps2 pretty damn good with parallel space 64bit support) And yet it will be totally obsolete next week once the S9 with the Snapdragon 845 will be released. 03-11-2018, 12:38 AM
And the Moto Z doesn't drop until September the OnePlus 6 will be here soon enough to hold me over lol

No it's 750 bucks and it comes with one Moto mod free and all the mods are but one get one free so where still at 750 witch is only a little bit more than the OnePlus. Btw the game pad (and all the rest of the mods) have batteries in them to extend the battery on the phone. The game pads battery is 1035 mAh so my phone with the mod has 3735 mAh battery, that's better than yours . Also you have to upgrade your phone to Oreo to even use the 64 bit support where as mine comes stock with it so have fun losing everything in your phone to make the switch over. The Snapdragon in your phone is redundant with a 32 bit OS. Get off my thread with your cheap phone, your not even right about how much YOUR phone cost Lol no. OnePlus has been on oreo for a while without data loss. It's also still cheaper overall than 750$. Also, dolphin wouldn't be able to run on the OP5 if it wasn't running an 64bit OS. |
