As the subject says, is there a specific build version that works best on the Nvidia shield TV, or is the most recent build ok to use?

I'm having a quite decent experience with the latest buildbot versions on an NSTV Pro.
Characters in Brawl are not distorted and framerates are oftenly at 60fps (albeit frequent stutters),even though I have it at 3x IR.
Though I currently have it at 0.2 underclocked with visual bugs.
General food items are invisible, making percentage recovery more challenging.
Four DKs in VS. on Hyrule Temple can bring it to a crawl just like on N64,but more-so.

Having root will allow you to possibly fix the stuttering by changing the GPU scale to 1Ghz,though I would personally just set it to 800Mhz to give it some breathing room.

So what does it run at normally then? And would you happen to know a good root guide for the Pro version?

Now Dolphin runs pretty decently on my NSTV Pro without having root as of the #1759 release.

GPU scaling has been rumoured to be at a wimpy 200Mhz by default, even with performance mode activated.
(you can thank and/or blame Energy Star for that)

Android release #1759 of Dolphin buildbot seems to be a bit faster since I can use EFBtoRAM with no issue on 1x IR,and adding an ini file with the fast disc read speed helps a little more for brawl, but cheats are oddly not working currently.
Put this on a new ini file named to match what game you need it on after creating the GameSettings foler inside the dolphin-emu directory.
(example for Brawl: RSBE01.ini)

[Core]
FastDiscSpeed = True

It even plays pretty smooth with four DKs on Isle Delfino and using High item spawns of Super Mushrooms despite the fps counter values.

I regret the way to rooting NSTV in general,as it requires physical connection to a computer via USB debugging, and I can't do that so easily, plus it is a PITA because of needing to do everything else instead of simply getting root just for what most people want to do,change the scaling to a higher Mhz or maxed out to 1Ghz,or perhaps install something custom after the wireless gamepad functionality issue gets fixed.
It would also require the television turned on to put in something in one step, yep, gotta get the television and the PC in reach by moving one of them if you don't have a laptop. (I don't,hence getting this device from personal limits)
Also, unless it changed, the Pro version has one step that takes 92MINUTES on average because of the 500GB HDD.

For rooting, Nvidia provides "developer images" that are prerooted and they will still receive regular updates like the non-rooted version.
Which is what I'm personally using.

Hey,

I have received my shield TV the other day and was playing around with dolphin to get some oldschool games working (SoulCalibour II Smile ). But I don`t seem to get things running smoothly. I`ve tried almost every combination of options (under/overclock) and I wonder if I am missing something

I am using the latest buildbot versions.

Is there any specific way to fix the clock for the shield? I have looked through the geforce forums and xda but haven`t found any clue so far.

Wait do these images come with Google apps pre installed?  And is this exclusive to the shield TV or does the Tablet get rooted love?
