First of all: Sorry for my bad English!!

More speed without any hardware upgrades? Is it possible? Well, yeah it is. I found a program called Ramdisk. With this program you can make a virtual Hard Disk of your RAM. So in other words:

The speed of a normal SATA Hard Disk is about let we say 30 - 40 MB/s
The speed of a Ramdisk is about 3 GB/s+

I tried this today and Im amazed! The games are running without hangs for 1 second (You know, like in Super Mario Bros. Wii that the game will hang for 0.5 seconds and then resumes, its anoying.), but when I run the game from the Ramdisk I dont have this problem!

I just wanted to share this with everyone and hope it helps somebody Big Grin Tongue!!

EDIT: I didn´t tested this on a low end machine, it might give you extra FPS (I don´t think so, but maybe it´ll).

im a lil low on ram to try this, but this really could speed up some things...

too bad that most dvd images are around 4gb
since i only got 4gb ram this is kinda useless for me...
would need at least 6? better 8gb of RAM

other idea, u can use flash memory, its accessrate is also faster then hdd,
i know u can use flashmemory as ram too, so maybe as a ramdrive also..
but that wouldnt be needed i guess xD

Flash memory is usually slower than HDD (keep in mind flash memory is very different from NAND memory).

I dont think it would speed up anything, but its worth a try.
And for the program in Windows 7, its called Readyboost.

I never understood the point of readyboost. If you run a benchmark on a flash drive and an internal HDD you'll see I'm not lying, HDD are usually at least twice as fast. I think the point was to have a large page file to help out systems with low ram, but even that wouldn't make sense because why not just keep the page file on your HDD?
