Been playing the game just fine for a few days, performed perfectly, and out of no where it just starts freezing on the first loading screen. Sometimes it doesn't make it that far.

I haven't changed anything. I'm feeling pretty lost.

My specs.

GTX970
16GB of RAM
Intel i7 3.50 8 core processor
Windows 7 Home

I'm using Dolphin 4.0

Why are you using 4.0? 4.0.2 is the latest stable, and the latest dev version (4.0-6213 as of this writing) is MUCH better!

Remember to get builds from our official site: https://dolphin-emu.org/download/

Probably a dumb question, but how do I upgrade and keep all my settings and saves?

They are all kept in a separate folder, you don't need to do anything other than run the new version.
