He was talking to me about it just the other day, I had to tell him to leave me alone after that.

Yeah it's nothing to be ashamed of. Heck I'm 26 almost 27 and I still watch silly cartoons.
If you like to watch MLP NV just come clean right now we're not gonna laugh. 05-05-2012, 07:12 AM
I've just understood MLP meant "My Little Pony". If my daughters could read this they wouldn't believe me

Then again, I've seen some family guy episodes well over 20 times, and still find them funny. On this more manly subject, I have to ask you if you've heard, so have you heard?

Then again, I've seen some family guy episodes well over 20 times, and still find them funny. Seasons 4-13 of the simpsons is easily the funniest thing you will ever watch in your life. After that they went downhill bigtime since most of the original writers left. [rant] Family guy and american dad just aren't funny unless you're 12. The "jokes" (if you can even call them that) in family guy are obvious, repetitive, and stale. The episodes consist of characters constantly doing flashbacks to scenes where after presenting the joke they repeat it in a loop for several minutes so as to make the scene as annoying and unenjoyable as humanly possible. They never attempt to make references to anything that couldn't be understood by a 12 year old. They seem to be operating under the assumption that there entire audience is filled with brain dead morons. And to add insult to injury the writers constantly copy the simpsons and don't even try to hide it, showing that they have absolutely no creative writing ability whatsoever. How is watching a peter fight a guy in a chicken costume for 8 minutes even remotely funny. It's as if they can't think of more than 5 minutes of content for an episode so they just decide to be lazy about it and stretch everything out for as long as they can. American dad is even worse, I didn't even think that was possible until I saw it. I'm not going to watch a 30 minute comedy cartoon that has a 50% chance of even making me laugh once. It's just not worth it. [/rant] Quote:On this more manly subject, I have to ask you if you've heard, so have you heard? I have no idea what you're talking about. NaturalViolence Wrote:[rant] This. I used to watch Family Guy right when it was new on Adult Swim, when I could stay up at 3 in the morning during the summer. The first couple of seasons, it was okay. I laughed a bit, I was mildly entertained. But then I started saying to myself "Wait, haven't I seen this joke somewhere before?" Soon it was just background noise while I browsed the internet at night until some other show came on, and eventually I stopped altogether. American Dad, to me, was basically the same as Family Guy with an expy cast. My sis hates both (and The Cleveland Show, but nobody really watches that one, right?) and I can see why. So much of the content is recycled. Digressing, I was skeptical when my sis wanted me to watch MLP with her. I didn't think she'd be into it, and she's only 4 years younger than me, so she's not a kid or anything. I had "manly" reservations, but I was like whatever, I'd just see why so many people were getting into it. I was surprised that a silly kids show that's supposed to be based off of Hasbro toys was actually enjoyable and refreshing to watch. No regrets. Manliness be damned, I won't let social norms dictate what I watch. :p But yeah, it's not like everyone has to like the show. Some people are genuinely turned off. You gotta know what you like and what you don't like, that's what's important here, both with MLP and Family Guy. I know what you mean Nickelodeon was awesome in the 90s. Damn, I remember when that channel first started playing Rugrats (which meant they could finally let up on the 12 hours of Looney Tunes in their programming). Doug was a favorite of mine too. I couldn't watch Are You Afraid of the Dark, not after they played one episode about a kid who gets stuck in a video game, forever. I can't believe so much of my childhood was absorbed in alternating rounds of Nick and the Sega Genesis, looking back at it all. I want my 90s childhood back too now. 05-05-2012, 09:14 PM

That was a perfect example of what I'm talking about. Stupid, annoying, long, and it doesn't go anywhere or have a point. Lazy writing at its finest.
