I am very new to this forum, so I figured I'd make my first post a good one. A very popular game for the Wii is Mario kart Wii. However, most tutorials explaining how to download & set it up are either outdated or incomplete. I have made a video using the most up-to-date firmware of Dolphin (5.0) explaining everything start to end. FAQ:
Q: This game lags so badly on my computer. How do I fix it?
A: First make sure your PC meets the minimum requirements in order to run Dolphin. These requirements can be found here: https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?t...tion_Guide . If your PC meets these requirements but you're still experiencing issues watch this video which shows the best config/graphic settings: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oUXQLIbJ4M . At the least, using the options in the above video should improve performance. If you still have some audio/lag issues that is completely normal. Think of the Emulator like a shoe, you need to break your shoes in a little bit. After booting up MK Wii a few times and playing it the assets get cached which lead to faster & faster loading times each time.
Q: I am getting my ass whooped in Multiplayer no matter how hard I try. How do I stay competitive?
A: Unfortunately, Nintendo did not do a stellar job balancing the game and there are only 2 combinations that will be competitive. The first is Funky Kong on the Flame Bowser Bike. The second is Daisy on any bike.
Q: I booted up my game, but my controller isn't working. Why?
A: This happened because you booted your game up before you plugged your control in. Go to your Dolphin Emulator | Controllers | Port 1 Configure | Click "Refresh"
Q: I got the correct error code the first time, but now it's been 2-6 days and the error code has changed. What does this mean?
A: ignore it, you will be allowed to play online on the 7th day.
Q: Can I do this on multiple computers in the same day?
A: No, the wiimmfi servers limit you to console activation per day. If you try to anyways you will get error code 23913.
Q: I followed this tutorial perfectly and got error code 23915.
A: You didn't follow the tutorial perfectly. I recommend uninstalling everything and wiping your Dolphin files. Re-watch the tutorial and pay close attention to what windows I keep open and what buttons I press. Also, make sure you used the unbanner.
Q: Do I need the other person to accept my friend request before we become friends?
A: it depends. For me specifically the answer would be "no" because I enabled open-host & black-list on the wiimmfi website. If you want to do that aswell do here https://wiimmfi.de/ (Figure it out yourself).
Q: Are there any steps I'm allowed to skip to make this go faster?
A: Yes, you can skip the whole Wii menu & Mii channel installation, but you will only be able to use the default guest characters online. You can always do this step later and just create another profile.
