We have a critical libusb update that may break users setups, so it can't wait for the next Progress Report. Feel free to comment on the article or ask questions below.

Thank you for the clarifying article, always a pleasure!
The merge fixed the hangs I had encountered and now the bluetooth passthrough with Wii's BT module seems to be performing better than ever (edge case (for me) being Wii remote sound working in NSMB for a longer period of time).

This broke my setup after uninstalling usbdk (which I did in safe mode and then using the uninstaller per instructions I found elsewhere).  I have an original wiimote (no motion plus) and also a new -TR motion plus controller.

I had usbdk installed because I used to use a cheap generic BT controller for dolphin that I also used as a general purpose bluetooth controller for my pc.  I stopped using the generic BT controller after making a usb-real wii bluetooth module and getting an intel wifi/bluetooth card that I did not use for dolphin.

Everything worked great, but then I tried to play Kirby's Dream Collection classic games, which led to a crash and libusb error messages.  I researched and found that I had to uninstall usbdk (in safe mode and using the uninstaller) to fix the crashing issue.  After doing that, my real wii-bluetooth module behaves improperly -- it either will refuse to connect wiimotes at all, or if it does connect a wiimote, it only will allow one to be connected.

My "fix" was to unplug my wii bluetooth module, and use emulated bluetooth in dolphin instead of passthrough, but I hate having to grab a pen to press the "sync" button on the -TR wiimote and the IR tracking on my original wiimote is sub-par.

How can I fix this and go back to using my wii bluetooth module?

You must have your drivers in a messed up state of some sort. All this change did was make it to the way it was a before the last batch of updates that caused the instability.

Uninstalling libusbk is a pain. At the bottom of this thread are some instructions that worked for me:
