When I launch the Mii Channel through the Wii menu, I get the error "Invalid read from 0x107f1087, PC = 0x80016e8c" and hangs there, forcing me to close Dolphin. I've performed a system update, reinstalled the System Software, and even reinstalled Dolphin, and the issue has still persisted. Has anyone else dealt with this, and did you find a fix?

Mii Channel crashing (5.0-14007)

Same here on 5.0-14095. Exact same error, "Invalid read from 0x107f1087, PC = 0x80016e8c".
For the record, it used to work. The first time I launched the channel, I was able to play around and create a Mii just fine. Here's the thing, while I was in the middle of creating said Mii, Dolphin dropped my real Wii Remote connection and wouldn't pick it back up. In order to not lose my progress, I did a state save, restarted Dolphin, loaded it, and carried on creating the Mii as normal. Any attempts to launch the channel after that have resulted in the error. I have a feeling the emulator didn't like it very much, seeing as Miis are kind of a system feature. EDIT: I tried it, and I'm still able to get into the channel by loading that state while on the black screen after the error. Again, it works as normal - the Miis I create show up in games and I can even save them to the Wii Remote. But I still can't launch it from the Wii Menu. 05-30-2021, 08:04 AM

Nothing changed, got the same exact error. Checked the log and this is being spammed on there really fast: 51:49:983 Core\IOS\USB\Bluetooth\BTEmu.cpp:357 E[IOS_WIIMOTE]: ACL queue size reached 100 - current packet will be dropped! If I set all Wii Remote slots to "None", that line stops being spammed, but I still don't get past the black screen. I'd love to post my logs, but what log types and verbosity should I choose? 06-12-2021, 09:11 AM
Alright. Got some good and bad news. The good: I messed around a bit and found a way to get back into the channel.
1. Go to %UserProfile%\Documents\Dolphin Emulator\Wii\title\00010002 (if using portable mode, look for "Wii" in the emulator install folder); 2. Delete the "48414341" folder (unless you're using the Korean version of the Wii Menu for some reason - in that case delete "4841424B"); 3. Launch Dolphin and click Tools > Perform Online System update > Current Region. Wait for it to finish; 4. Load the Wii Menu and start the Mii Channel; 5. It works! It should start up as if it's your first time using the channel. After the tutorial that forces you to create a Mii, though, whatever Miis you had saved before this whole ordeal will still be there, so don't worry about losing them. The bad news: this only works once. The moment you quit, it gets corrupted again. Next time you start it, the same invalid read error will show up. I've been getting around this by using save states. Make one every time after you create a Mii and use it to get back into the channel. Hopefully someone smarter than me can find a more permanent solution. In the meantime, hope this helps. |
