The goal of this texture pack is to replace the most blurry and offensive low-res HUD textures in the Metroid Prime games that do not look good next to all the upscaled 3D elements with brand-new hand-drawn ones.
Originally started in late 2017 I finally finished this texture pack when I was in the mood and re-played all three games again over the past few weeks, replacing textures that annoyed me whenever they showed up.

This texture pack works and is optimized for use with the PAL and NTSC versions of:
Metroid Prime 1 and 2 for the GameCube, Metroid Prime 3 and the Metroid Prime Trilogy for the Wii

Also in this pack are some extra textures like a HD face texture for Prime 1&2 Samus, better Tallon IV space textures, keyboard and mouse buttons and a small crosshair for PrimeHack users and more.

NOTES:

If you experience any issues with the pack please report them here in the forum thread.

(Special thanks to 'Bighead' for his Custom Texture Tool that made updating the UI texts and converting hundreds of textures to DDS very easy)

This looks amazing! I'm always a bit bothered by the blurry HUD, so this is most welcome, well done!
Only thing that does looks a bit weird are the eyes, the original looks better, otherwise stellar work!

Seems like the trilogy is a pain in the ass to work with, so kudos for finishing this!

Edit: After playing MP2 a bit the eyes look fine, it was only the screenshot that looked a little off Smile

Maybe a mod could move this to the right forum?

It's not harder than any other texture pack, it's just that there are three games in one in the Trilogy so of course someone would have to be extremely dedicated to do a pack covering all three games in their free time and without pay.
The only ones trying to do a complete pack with new hand painted textures are the guys of the Metroid Prime Remastered project, and that is for Prime 1 only and years in the works.

In the case of the letter issue I mentioned it's that there are hundreds if not thousands of textures for all the different letter sizes, styles and colors. It would have been much easier if Retro did the coloring of the letters in-game via the game engine and not with separate textures, then each letter style would have needed only one texture.
To add insult to injury most of the special characters and symbols in the smaller letter textures are just a bunch of unrecognizable pixels so I wouldn't even know what they are supposed to be even when comparing them to my letter guide based on the biggest letters you can dumb.

I wasn't sure about the eyes myself, I thought they looked a bit "staring into your soul" so I released it under the pretext that people would tell me if they looked weird to them as well. Below is an edit with the eye texture from the Zero Suit Samus model seen at the beginning of Prime 3, upscaled and slightly edited for more detail. This also adds a bit more consistency between the games.

I PM'd Shonumi yesterday about it, we just have to wait.

Well, I happen to be one of those dedicated, or stupid (depending on how you look at it), enough to go through with updating the text textures XD. These look really good, I'll have to make sure to refer people here who download my upscale project.

Of course, all of our projects could become obsolete if the rumors of Trilogy HD are true.

They won't be obsolete even if a remastered version comes out. It'll only be available for Switch users. Many of doesn't even own a Switch. And these textures combined with Primehack will still be one of the best ways to play the trilogy!

Cheers!

Good to know you are still trying with that. :-)

Has anyone tried to use this graphic pack on MP1 and MP2 (GAMECUBE) and MP3 (wii) individually ???
It is that the wii trilogy forces you to play with the movement control and loses the occasional graphic effect Sad

looking really clean, nice work

edit: Is the MP1&2 samus face texture derived from one of the demos? I played around with that one for a while and had similar soul-piercing concerns

It's based on the texture of her face you can see at the end of Prime 1. It's an upscaled texture from Malkierian's HD pack that I cleaned up and adjusted to the visor face format. The "soul" eyes are now gone though, I have replaced them with the eyes texture from Prime 3. Below is the old look I meant:

I have loaded up Metroid Prime GC and put the textures in the appropriate ID folder and the textures seem to have loaded correctly. By copy-pasting the different textures from Malkierian's HD pack around it seems that there are no textures that would conflict with another game so I think you can just rename the folder to the correct game ID to use the pack with the separate games.

But know that the Gamecube on-screen buttons are not replaced as the Trilogy uses new ones for the Wii. I'm not sure if they load correctly in standalone MP3 so you have to see for yourself.
