I am using the latest stable build of 4.0.2 of Dolphin and are using a wii remote with motion plus adapter and a nunchuck. Every single game besides Metroid Prime Trilogy works. I tried several different approaches such as hybrid wii remote and real wii remote. Nothing will work with moving the cursor in the main menu and also in-game (Only my mouse can move it around with the hybrid wii remote set-up). I've also tried ALT F5 several times with each controller setup.

I'm very frustrated and don't understand why I'm not able to move the cursor around in the main menu and the gun around in the game with my wii remote+nunchuck. Help please. I googled it so many times in different ways and it seems that I'm the only one having issues with this. Am I missing something?

I am new to this website, my apologies.

I use a motion plus adapter with my regular wii remote, I don't use a sensor bar although I have one that came with the Wii U and I've already tried it out with the Wii U on/off (to power it I guess) and on the bottom of monitor settings in dolphin.

For the pointer to work you have to make sure the sensor bar is on. Because of how the Wii U is though, you have to have the Wii U in a place where the sensor bar would be used - it turns it off automatically to save power at any place where the sensor bar is not needed.

The sensor bar is just IR lights. You could try candles or something to experiment. But without the IR lights the wiimote has no idea where your screen is and you won't be able to control any game that uses the pointer. And Trilogy relies upon it.

Finally found the problem thanked to https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-sensor-bar-works-on-real-wii-not-on-emulator

Everything is working now but it sucks having to leave the remote on for the Wii U so I can use my own for the PC, running down the batteries. If you know any other way around that, that'd be great. Thanks for the help!

Yea that's... kind of what I was talking about. Anyway, you can get an always on USB sensor bar to get around this.

I can also disconnect the wii remote that's synced with the wii u by taking out the battery really quick then can make the gamepad my own sensor. A minor inconvenience but I am playing MP1 smoothly. Will look into the usb sensor bar, thanks.
