I tried 5016, but I get even worse slowdowns. It didn't the memory card was using with 6602 (save states only cause errors upon trying to load, so I use a memory card) and I had to start again.
The intro scene, which already had been slow with 6602, was about 1FPS with 5016 (I couldn't find anything to display FPS, only a bunch of other statistics).

As I'm not expecting to be able to fix this easily, did you experience the slowdown only in Chozo ruins or in other areas as well? Because if it's only in the ruins, I could just quickly finish the area and then hopefully continue the rest of the game with a decent framerate.

For the last time it is not an issue with dolphin. The area is large and has a lot of primitives to process, it's as simple as that. It's not a problem we can just "fix" by changing some code.

@Megidolaon

Something is wrong then. Where did you get 5016 from and are you using d3d9 or opengl?

Chozo ruins is one of several spots in the game that will run slowly on just about any setup.

I got 5016 from the download archive of the main dolphin site. And I used the graphics setup closest to the recommended one on the wiki, i.e.:
Plugin: Direct3D9
Safe Texture Cache: on
Force bi/trilinear: on
EFB Scaled Copy: on
Disable Fog: on
Enable EFB Copy: To RAM
Enable Audio Throttle: off

Is unlimited jit cache on?

That's not an option in Direct3D9.

It's in the main config window.

I'm also having slowdowns, but severe ones. In Chozo ruins the speed drops down to 5 FPS making the game barely playable (with this speed even frameship can't make up for anything).

I configured the graphics Plugin as recommended in the wiki page for the game:
Plug-in - Direct3D9
EFB Scaled Copy - On
Force Bi/Trilinear Filtering - On
Enable CPU Access - Off
Enable EFB Copy - RAM
Safe Texture Cache - Fast
Disable Fog - On
Audio Throttle - Off

Is there any way I can raise the speed? My hardware should be good enough for decent speed.

Look, if I turn off textures, fog off, disable lighting, all for more FPS, and still 16,18 max 21fps.

It's slow because of the number of primitives generated, therefore you won't be able to just "fix it" by changing settings because it's not a problem with the emulation code that's causing the slowdown.

I don't think you're crazy, just uninformed. Which is why I'm trying to make you understand. I'm not trying to insult you, I'm trying to teach you.
