Metroid Prime Look Auto-Center

Hello, I'm playing Metroid Prime (GC) using mouse and keyboard. I'm just wondering if anyone knows a way to avoid having the crosshairs continuously auto-centering while in aim mode. This obviously makes it impossible to actually aim at anything, which kind of sucks. This happens regardless of what I map the main stick to.
