Hello all,

Just recently got dolphin and tried to run my metroid prime ISO on it. Works fine more or less as far as up and running is concerned, gameplay is another issue in itself though, unfortunately.

I get a lot, and I mean A LOT of stuttering, skipping, and freezing, not to mention artifacts when entering high traffic areas that contain a lot of stuff. I am currently running the game on native resolution (fullscreen) with 1x filtering and no msaa on. I uploaded the high-quality textures, and kept them, that is all.

My current system:

Intel QXm9300 overclocked to 3.06Ghz, 12mb cache, 1066fsb
Mobility Radeon 3870 X2 (Catalyst 9.7 drivers modded)
4GB DDR3 1333Mhz
Vista Ultimate 64-bit SP2

Any and all help or pointing in the right direction is greatly appreciated, I love this game to death and would love to relive it without all of this pain. Thanks.

I would just like to know what causes the MASSIVE slowdown on the 2nd room of Chozo Ruins where the "welcome" cutscene kicks in.

well I got rev 3896 of the SVN and modded some catalyst 9.7 drivers for vista, and the game is a lot better with the exception of stuttering or freezing here and there when my CPU heats up. Something just happened that REALLY pissed me off! I just finished off the first boss of chozo ruins, got my varia suit again, and went to a save station. Now it told me "no memory card found in slot A. Metroid prime only supports slot A for saving." I couldn't save! I had to quit the game and now redo the whole boss fight, which is not one of my favorites at all. Why did this happen? Can I get someone's custom SVN of dolphin possibly developed specifically for optimizing metroid prime and its variants? Thanks.

You might have used savestates... they are almost save for MP1 afaik. The Problem itself is strange, and I don't know why this happened. I think there are some MP-optimized revisions, but I don't know where to download, and I think they are a bit outdated (if they even exist). I would rather try it again and make a quicksave before you save in the savestation.

build 1546 is a pretty good one to use...magmoor caverns is just really slow unless you use scan visor..idk y but yea..scan visor or other visors fix alot of slowness...and there is not really any slowdown in the major boss fights...its really nice..couple of flashing walls here and there but over all its a really really good build for mp1..
