i dont think his graphics card would be able to handle 1080p native very well espically with that much vram since its an older card (emulation might be fine but regular gaming forget about it).

Most modern PC games still run fine with 512MB of vram at 1920 x 1080. He can always lower the texture quality and/or resolution if it becomes a problem. But limited yourself to 1024 x 768 all the time (and a 15" screen) is just stupid (no offense, I know it's probably old and you haven't upgraded it in awhile due to financial constraints).

3XIR + 9x SSAA = insane resolution that will kill your GPU
My 9800GT can handle 3xIR alone just fine . Don't tell me your 4850 is weaker than 9800GT (4850 is faster)

i5 3570k cost higher than i5 3570 because i5 3570k is unlocked multiplier CPU (you can overclock) .What's the point of putting an unlocked CPU on a locked OC capability motherboard ?
Dolphin doesn't care about Hyper Threading -> i7 = i5 and you have overclock both of them to achieve full speed on demanding games

Eh' I don't think I'll have that close to spend I'll have to stick with sandy i5/i7 or swap for a different gen. Also my mobo can OC, I've been to my systems bios, there's an auto option (Greyed out due to Celeron and not a K model i5/i7) and a manual "Clock Multiplier" adjustment thing not greyed out but it only lets me lower it, again due to Celeron, although I would love to see how far a Sandy Celly could go but this isn't a "Intel Rant" forum so I'll save those peeves for a different site/place if I feel the need to let off some steam.

I've read/watched people with Q9650's and i5 650's doing better than me on youtube all they get is occasional dips and audio glitches supposedly (note: "Supposedly" I don't know if it's legit), and claiming doing better than they were with the 3.5 release, even at stock (3.0-3.2ghz) so this all confuses me greatly.

Eh' 1024x768 looks just fine to me, as far as I can tell 1080p seems over-rated, plus I'd rather 1024x768 (plan to upgrade some-day to 18.5inch and 1366x768) with 60fps on High than play my PC games in 1080p with 30-40fps on Low. Plus I plan to get newer games eventually, and newer GPU's that stomp this have problems with them in 1080p so yeah.

You can try but i'm sure all H61 , H67 , H77 , B75 don't support overclocking
You can still underclock CPU though
I think you should get this combo : i5 3350P + Asrock Z77 Pro 4 (only Asrock mobo has "no k OC function" which allow you overclock non-k CPU such as i5 3350P to 3.7GHz)
i5 3350P is the cheapest i5 of Ivy Bridge Series , it does not contain an integrated GPU

I was actually thinking about that since I doubt I'll ever have enough for a current or 2nd/last Gen model. I know it's stupid but eh.
And actually, according to MSI's website it's built exactly for Over-Clocking, it's even advertised on the box as being able to OC up to 4.2ghz and something about Unlocking the CPU ratio. Edit: Scratch that, I checked their website despite advertising CPU overclocking on the box and all they don't say anywhere but the OC Genie II page that the H61/H67 only supports "IGP" over-clocking.
Why the heck would they advertise that it can OC the CPU on the Box then? Ugh

Nah' way too expensive for a size where such a high-resolution makes sense.
Plus like I said, don't care. I'm not Interested in 1080p, I have no need for that much desktop space, 1280x1024 is the most I'd need, plus I refuse to sacrifice Texture quality/etc, for "OMG ISH 1080p HD! (bandwagon)", to me High-Settings in 1024x768 - 1366-768 or 1280x1024 look much crisper than 1080p running with Low-Fi settings.

This. i went from a 1280x1024 native monitor to 1920x1080. its A HUGEEEEEE Difference. its like getting a gaming mouse. you never want to go back to regular crappy ones ever again.

i will never go back to low resolution monitors. lol.
