I have a problem ( for some like me its basicly gamebreaking). The Game runs flawlessly without any problems with one little exception. My Framerate drops massively when the "gunsmoke" effect happens ( shooting the beam very fast until it heats) and i am sure that this effect is the direct cause of the problem. I am fairly new with dolphin and have no idea what i can do about it. Has somone an idea how to fix this ?

What backend are you using: OpenGL, Vulkan, or D3D?
Are you using Ubershaders?
Are you running any enhancements like high Internal Resolution or AA/AF?
Do these slowdowns happen when you have those enhancements turned back to native?
Do you have the latest GPU drivers installed?
Do you have a high performance power plan for Dolphin setup in the Nvidia Control Panel?

You should enable Ubershaders.
Rig 1: Windows 10 Home | AMD A6-1450 @ 600/1000/1400 MHz | AMD Radeon HD Graphics 8250 | 4GB RAM | HP Pavilion TouchSmart 11.

Rig 2: Windows 10 Pro | Intel Core i7-2640M @ 780/2800/3500 MHz | Intel HD 3000 Mobile | 8GB RAM | Dell Latitude 6320.

sorry i meant asynchros ubershaders and i did set the maximum performance plan and tried with no aa and af on native resolution the drop is still there butt not as strong ( around 8 fps loss compared to 20 or so on my settings). Its funny that this little effect has such an imapct on framerate.....

Your processor may be too weak.

Make sure to set Dolphin to "Prefer maximum performance" in the NVIDIA Control Panel.
Having MSI Afterburner OSD showing CPU and GPU utilization could help seeing what's going on.

i doubt it has something to do with the hardware in this specific case, i tried it on a more processor optimized rig out and the same is happening. nothing else in the game drops the fps like this it is litteraly a little bit of heatwaves of the barrell.

The effect you want "turned off" is probably part of the EFB or XFB settings (Always forget which one is which), so turning either of those off should give you a nice speed increase... at the cost of other effects not working either and potentially breaking the game (I read the Visor needs it to scan stuff) But all in all, your AMD Vishera cores are too slow to handle it, and what does a "more processor optimized" rig mean? A 10 core part? An AMD Ryzen? Intel 1st gen chip?

Just keep in mind that in your eyes it might be some sort of small effect, but it actually needs to be translated from an language that your computer doesn't understand, so while your CPU does that the only thing your GPU can do is wait, and even if you could just disable that single effect (making it "invisible") your CPU will still have to do those computations.
The one thing that you can try is not using Ubershaders and just going for Synchronized, to see if it still happens > but that will introduce shaderstuttering.
Check my profile for up to date specs.

If I remember correctly, Metroid Prime 3 is one of the worst, if not the worst game to play without Ubershaders. It would be a stutter fest on Synchronized Smile
