Hello everyone, I've been trying to play Metroid Prime 2 echoes on an x64 Windows 7 computer. However, sometimes the game doesn't start at all (stuck with a black screen) or randomly crashes, especially when walking through doors/entering new zones. Any tips what I can do are really appreciated.

In addition to this, my scan visor has started looking weird. I'm pretty confused as to what to do, MP1 worked perfectly.

Please post you dolphin settings.

When the game "doesn't start at all (stuck with a black screen)" try make a true reset of gamecube, to do it go in Emulation -> Reset Wink

Metroid Prime 1 and 2 needs EFB to RAM to get all visor working properly, you can also use EFB to RAM with Cache enabled to gain some FPS Smile

I don't know about random crash, sorry :-( Try use the Git 3.0-878 or the 3.0 and see what happen, you can get it here -> http://dolphin-emu.org/download/

You can get more info about MP2 here -> http://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-gc-metroid-prime-2-echoes--25934

Black screens on boot are usually signs of a bad dump of the game, though I'm not sure why your game would work sometimes and not work others. It's pretty easy to tell if your game was dumped correctly. You'll need to download a tool that generates MD5 hashes (google around, plenty of free ones are out there) and then compare your hash to that of a verified dump. Sites like GameTDB and Redump.org have extensive databases that you can check. If your hash matches theirs, the integrity of your dump isn't the problem. If they don't match, then you should redump your game until they do.

The md5 checksum matches, so the dump isn't the problem. Also, I enabled EFB to RAM already, but the crashes keep happening. My config is attached as .txt.

Try what hyperspeed told you and stop using Dirty Dolphin builds.
I have completed this game 100% with Dolphin 3.0 x64 and never had any crashes.

Using Dolphin 3.0, the game still crashes. Now, the crashes always seem to occur when entering the Great Temple, during the elevator video sequence.

See that wasn't so hard.
Now that we know your specs it's also good to have detailed information of what settings you used for Dolphin 3.0 and screenshots from the crash to see what kind of crash it is.

Here's another pic, this is the major type of crash happening. The window just turns whitish and windows tells me that dolphin stopped responding. It happens a good amount of times when walking through doors. So possibly this has something to do with loading new areas/unloading old ones?
