The issue is that unlike the Prime 2/3 HP textures the P1 textures can't simply be upscaled and then replaced without altering the alpha masks as well. To get it to work I had to set the transparency of the textures to 100% and then export the images as a PNG with a 32 bit depth so the numbers and background still exist in the texture despite being completely invisible. There was only one other texture that had the same issue and it was a small scrolling arrow in the Prime 3 menu.

Below are some sneak peaks of the pack for anyone's that is interested. The goal is to simply replace the most offensive low-res HUD textures that don't look good next to all the upscaled 3D elements with new hand-drawn ones. I don't know when it will be ready for a release.

That looks great! Will probably wait with my playthrough until you're done with these! Smile

Went searching, no one's done the Trilogy yet.  So, I decided to try it myself.  I initially tried ESRGAN, but quickly lost heart because it just couldn't live up to my standards of quality.  However, shortly after that, I found TopazLabs' Gigapixel AI, and man, what a difference.  And since the work was done, I figured I'd share.

This is just a rough first draft, really.  I fully plan on going through and touching up as many textures as I can.  But the 4x upscales with Gigapixel are all done, and it still looks fantastic, even without the manual touch-up.  Even after weeding out all of the obviously junk images (and let me tell you, there were TONS of them), and the mips I didn't need to upscale (since we have a tool on the forum that automatically puts mipmaps into DDS files), there are still almost 25k textures that were upscaled, including font textures (15k in MP3 alone).

As mentioned already, these are DDS files, but I compared to the PNGs myself, and there was virtually no quality loss.  They also contain embedded mipmaps, it cuts down on the file count.  Also, thanks to using DDS, Preload Custom Textures is not necessary, and indeed not possible if you don't have at least 12 GB of RAM on your computer.  If you want to preload, I suggest moving the folders for the games you're not planning on playing into the Load parent folder, where they won't be touched.

Yes, I know those are all from Corruption, but that's what I was doing when I finished up, so that was the first I took pictures of.  However, I did do this transition comparison of the Phazon Mines cutscene from MP1 as well: Video on Dropbox

Speaking of the separate games, I can confirm that the textures are interchangeable with their standalone, and to make that easy (if you like playing one standalone over trilogy), I made separate ZIPs of each individual game's textures in their respective game's region-free folder name.

Also of note, unfortunately the menu backgrounds and endings of all the games (and the intro for Echoes) are all pre-rendered videos, so unfortunately there's no way to upscale those (trying to save the PNGs of each video frame and upscale them seems to be able to load fast enough, but it results in some pretty annoying visual glitches).

If you come across any portions of any of the games that you think are not upscaled, let me know where, and if you know how, send me a rip of the textures in that area so I can double check.

MP1 Text and Logs Update 5/17/2020
Download this only if you got the pack before the date listed above, as otherwise it was in the ZIP you downloaded. To update, navigate to your Dolphin Texture Load folder, delete the MP1 logs folder (either GM8\logs or R3M\MP1\logs), then extract this into the same directory from which you just deleted the logs folder. If in doubt, just redownload the pack above that you wish to use, as they have the proper files (and directory structures).

The download link for the trilogy is broken.

Good news! I finally feel like I'm to the point where I can release an update to the pack with the text and Logbook changes for Metroid Prime 1! However, I wanted to ask you guys if you were OK with how things were with the pack organization, or if you'd prefer if I made them compatible with the Resource Pack Manager. I'm thinking I'll have the Trilogy pack separated into three downloads, one for each game, to make it easier to install and uninstall them (due to the fact that they're so damn big). Would this be too much for you guys, or would it make it easier on you in the long run like I'm hoping it would? The one major downside would be that the archives would be uncompressed (thus being about 3 times bigger than the ones available now).

Sorry, I'm in the middle of reworking the way I store and upload the packs (my ISP's upload speed is horrendous, so I'm going to use my webhost to host the individual files as well as run the zipping process, then upload directly from there to my host. But it looks like I accidentally deleted the file on the new host. I fixed it for now with the link to the old version (without updated text) until I get the new format figured out. You'll just have to download the text update zip manually (though there is a slight revision coming in the next day or two even newer than that file).

I don't really manage my texture packs with resource manager so that part doesn't really matter.
It's probably better to separate the downloads, one per game, that way users can download the one they want, and not automatically all three. It should keep many users from running out of memory as well.
Download size doesn't matter to me as well, but I know it might for some users.

Looking forward to the update!

Btw: will these textures overwrite HD Interface Texture Pack by Terg500?

I'm sure someone uses the resource pack manager and would get some use out of it, but personally I don't and I think the current pack organization is basically perfect

Not entirely sure what I did wrong here but the energy number at 90+ in MP1 isn't correct for me, using PrimeHack 1.0.0 without other texture packs.

Huh, weird. I know the versions I have up have that fixed at least. Does a normal version of Dolphin have the problem, too? Have you downloaded the latest pack(s)?

I have the same 100x100 health issue, updated the texture pack and still 99%.

If you can check it ???
Thank you for your work

What's the feasibility of injecting these back into the prime trilogy and playing the game on, say, a Wii U? (I assume not possible due to the system running the game in Wii mode and that not having HD support, but thought I would ask anyway.) The textures are awesome but the game simply doesn't run as smooth as I'd like via Dolphin, no matter what settings are used...

Virtually impossible. First, the disc image would be way too big, and second, the texture format is completely different from what Dolphin dumps or loads (as far as I know), and I don't think anyone's bothered putting together a converter for it.

I recently had an issue with the game being choppy, despite a hardware upgrade, so might I suggest looking at your overall settings and bringing down the emulated overclock? Mine was set at almost 300%, but when I brought it down to 150%, that fixed a LOT of my issues. It's in "Config > Advanced > Clock Override".
