Metroid 3 garbled text & hang...

My Specs...

AMD 2.8ghz dual core
2 gig ram
Nvidia 8800 GTS

I got the latest drivers for my video card from nvidias website, and ran the official microsoft DirectX updater. Then I downloaded the latest version of Dolphin (2745)...

Metroid 3 starts ok (although the fps is less than spectacular for a menu screen, capping at about 30). Anyway, the first thing I noticed is that the text is garbled (imagine letters flipped and/or partially cut off). But the real problem comes when I try and select a mii, because it causes the game to lock up completely.

I also tried Battalion Wars 2, and that seems to work ok (but the sound is HORRIBLE, and the fps can still barely go above 30). *Update on Battallion wars, I reset all the settings to default, and the FPS seems ok now (60fps), but I still have trouble with the sound. Sound effects dont just play once then stop, they loop over and over FOREVER (very annoying).

Any ideas? I would love to try the DirectX render plugin, but it doesnt appear in the dropdown for some reason...

Thanks in advance

In reference to MP3:

1) Use Safe Texture Cache

2) Use a previous revision that allowed you to pass that portion (you can try downloading from Nevada's SVN archive HERE - Thanks for all you're work Nevada!!)

Once you get past the Mii issue you will have a host of more issues to overcome anyway - I would recommend the search function for those.

Ok cool thanks, the Safe Texture Cache hack fixed the garbled text. However I still crash when selecting a Mii. When you say 'Use a previous revision ', you mean a previous version of Dolphin itself?

Yep. You are gonna have to hunt for a working version. I know at one time it did work because that's how I got my working save to get past it. I just don't remember the exact version of Dolphin I used.

Well i have tried many of those versions you linked to... 26 - 39, 48, 52, 57 all have the same problem. They all lock up when I select a Mii. So you say you had this exact problem? And the onlyway to fix it was to get lucky with some random Dolphin version? Sigh...

Oddly ehough the older versions let me select directx from the dropdown, they dont seem to help with my locking problem though...
!!! Progress!

I tried running Battalion wars 2 with version 2648 and the sound problems went away! Trouble is now I need to figure out how to hook up my wii mote (i have been using the mouse up to this point). Battallion wars wont start because it says i need to hook up a nunchuck. I have everything I need (wiimote, nunchuck, bluetooth adapter, ect...) are there any guides that explain how to get your wiimote workign with dolphin?
