Aaaaarrgh, just tried out new build r5629 and the speed in mgs is significantly improved, best speed so far even in cut scenes but....its crashing even worse than ever first the audio cuts out then, after a few seconds the whole thing hangs, anyone else try the latest builds?

Another damn audio problem, eh? Have you tried disabling audio, if it still crashes then?

Yes, tried it without audio throttle, and HLE the IPL, with play with it more tomorrow and see if I was just unlucky or if there is so,me combination that minimizes crashes, will pop back here if I find anything of use, it would be great to get this going now as I said its the fastest I've had it run so far, not perfect but the best so far in over 1000 revisions

metal gear cannot be played with direct3d couse of missing artifacts in minimap which are crucial in this game (minimap usage i mean)
open gl is only solution + it never crashes if u enable safe texture please take a look at previous page there is a test of all.

Hmmm, I've played it up to the PAL card inputs in direct3d, true the crashes are incredibly annoying but with enable EFB copy to RAM i never noticed any graphical glitches, using r5524 its all looked & played great, the only problems were multiple inconsistent crashes and dreadfully slow fps in cut scenes! My problem with OpenGL is the FPS is even worse!

game never crashed for me,i used Openg gl and safe texture ,pal version on win 7 64 it runs 35 in crowded places 44 in normal

Weird! I never had that problem, tried it now texture and its still ok, except for (IR goggles I think), if only someone could fix the crashes/cut scene fps in the same revision!....here is my setup;

which cut screen u get crash?or is it all of them?have u tried that cut sceene with texture set to fast instead of normal?it prevented crashings for me.

and i guess its diference between ATI and Nvidia ,i do not have corect minimap in Direct3d not even with your settings.i just came to darpa chieff and it didn't crash.but minimap is ugly.(missing dots of targets)

Aha! maybe it is that then, I'll give it a short with safe texture at fast, at the moment there is no consistency in its crashing, it can be anywhere gameplay, cut scenes or codec!
