Hello,
I've been trying to playing Xenogears on Dolphin (the configuration settings used are the ones that are suggested in the wiki), using the two version of the emulator specified in the subject of the thread, however, roughly 30-40 minutes into the game, I am forced to shut down Dolphin and open it back up as everything slows down to a crawl. The culprit seems to be a memory leaking issue.

Memory usage on my computer is usually around 2gb out of 8 with Dolphin closed, however once I open it up and start the game, the usage will slowly ramp up until all the memory of my system is used up by it, point in which the game slows down from 60 fps to 3-4.

sounds like someone forgot to free up a piece of allocated ram in a loop in build 409. Did you try an earlier version?399 works great for me.

I've tried both with the 409 and the 4.0.1 which should be the stable release, both 64 bit. I will try with the 399 and hope for a better outcome, thanks for your help.

EDIT: Tried with the 399, but even on this version, after a while dolphin ends up using all the memory.

Ok, I dont think its dolphin then. Try some of this.

Check for spyware ( spy-bot or something ).
Does it do the same for wii and GC games? Just wondering...
If you have not rebooted ( just marking sure ) try that.
Install Dolphin fresh if you can.
install under a new or other user.

Doing these things will give a clue, just report back your findings.

Tried all of this without success, minus the trying another GC/wii game. I bought xenoblade on an impulse when I saw it for cheap in a mall, so that's the only game I own.

I checked other xenoblade threads on this forums and downloaded the 3.0-71 version of dolphin with the HLE hack v 3.1. That version so far is working flawlessly and there's no more memory leak problems, the game now sits at 60fps stable even with the dx 9 plugin that according to the wiki, should give stuttering in xenoblade.

That version of Dolphin tends to get random crashes though. Since that version is no longer supported, you'll have to deal with those kind of issues. If I were in your position, at the very least I'd use something after the FIFO-BP merge (which eliminated random crashes for most people) and after the second new-ax-hle merge (3.5-1154) if you need HLE audio (your specs are good enough for LLE audio to run just fine).

I kind though that myself but he clearly states its the dolphin process.

Its dolphin or something latched on to it. Your down to Shonumi's suggestion, try to narrow it down. Though 399 on my system is not going up so it has to be related to you PC config by some means. If you are 100% sure its not software then it must be hardware. You may want to look in to sysmon type of apps and see who is pegging your system in detail. Those apps really can help and they log. I'd suggest ending just about all know tasks and seeing if it runs better that way. It could still be something sharing the process. Did you ever try running as a brand new user? This clears up just about all possible software leaches.
