I would not even bother trying to run Dolphin on that laptop. Nowhere near the specs you need to even make it an enjoyable experience if you could run it all.

NVIDIA Geforce 5000 FX series isn't supported by dolphin and you'd need more RAM and a better CPU to play properly, sorry Sad

Hmm you could always play it on your Gamecube or Wii...

If you don't have one, I don't know what to tell you. Dolphin is nowhere's near the development stage to be considered a replacement for the actual console and requires a beast of a system to run with decent performance. Always have the actual system and original games just in case, you'll realize that trying to get off cheap by not buying the system and possibly games is not the best choice in this case.

Not with his Geforce FX he can't, he's crap out of luck. The Geforce FX series may have SM 2.0 (Pixel/Vertex Shading 2.0), but it was a poor implementation of the shader model and was poorly supported. As a result of this most if not nearly all games or applications that utilize SM 2.0, will fail to run, have corrupt graphics, crash, or run incorrectly with severe performance degradation with FX cards. ATI was the only one that properly supported SM 2.0 with their Radeon 9200/9500 cards, and even those are not supported by Dolphin.

It's always good to encourage having the actual system and games, just in case your system isn't up to par, something isn't compatible, or something doesn't work. It should be realized that Dolphin is not yet a viable replacement for the actual system, compatibility still isn't too great despite the advancements in development, some games lack sound or have crackling/popping sound, some games have crashing issues, or don't work at all. Once Dolphin can run most games without any issues/crashes whatsoever, sound emulation is greatly improved, then it can be considered a viable replacement for the actual system.

For now I would just have the system and games in your possession until Dolphin reaches that next milestone in development, unless some like waiting a long time to play the games they are so desperate to play, if these very games don't work on Dolphin.

In this case if he wants to play the game so badly, he can do so on his Wii or Gamecube if he has one. His system doesn't even meet the minimum requirements to run Dolphin, buying the actual system would be more viable and cheaper than building a new PC to play Dolphin somewhat decently.

Don't assume someone has pirated the game, I don't have a Gamecube anymore because it broke, I just rip the games from my nephews Wii. But obviously thats not every ones case,a lot of people do pirate the games, i'm just saying you shouldn't assume someones immediately a pirate because they don't have the system. (I don't mean to be offensive but i just don't like it when someone jumps to conclusions)
