I am having a similar problem, but I'm almost certain it isn't my memory card that is the problem. Whenever I get to the start menu, I'm told to start a new save slot. When I do that, a notice pops up saying

"Could not write memory card file. Are you running Dolphin from a CD/DVD, or is the save file maybe write protected?"

and the answer to the obvious question is, NO I am not running Dolphin from a CD/DVD.
